Situation update: now they are only waiting for the Ripjaws and the HDD to restock. When they get them, all the items should be sent right away. Then it should take a couple of days for them to arrive and then some more days before I'm fully operational.

Am I sensing a subtle Mythbusters reference here or are my senses going on overdrive? Anyway, I'd be glad if you could host a boot camp of some sort so I could at least do something in Arma 2. I know the very basics but I'm going to need help with the advanced stuff.
Delivery of the components might actually take a while: if you just order something from Jimm's, it's 1-4 days. But if you order a PC package it's 1-4 weeks. I'm quite positive at thinking it only means the PC's they build themselves but you can never be too sure. If they still haven't restocked by Friday I'm going to call them and ask how long the restocking is going to take (they don't tell it on the Ripjaws, on the Caviar Black 1,5 TB HDD it's 3-10 work days) and how long will it take to deliver them.

Do you think I should get an antistatic wrist band? Or could I just touch the case every time before touching anything else and only grab everything from the sides? I could buy one from Jimm's for 7,00€ and get it the same time I get everything else (hopefully). www.jimms.fi/tuote/660100 ("Grounding wrist band")

I have been building systems for years without the band. It is handy to have but not a necessity. Touching the case every now and then and handling the cards without touching the contact strips will avoid any static dissipation damage.

Agree with Taz here. I've built and worked on systems for years without one and never had a problem. Just be careful and always touch the side of the case before you touch anything else.

Al I think you have doen the right thing. I wore one for my build, as most people I know here have. 7 Euro is a small price to safeguard your processor.

While its not fully necessary to use a static wrist band, wearing one does completely dissipate static all the time and is guaranteed to work. I go a bit further when I build system, I also wear nitrile gloves (no talc powder) just to ensure none of my oils get in the system, this pretty much guarantees myself and customers that if a part does not work its not my fault, wearing the gloves is overboard but when you build systems for strangers it does not hurt to err on the side of caution.

Update on the situation: I'm not worried about the HDD. They will resupply it next week. But the Ripjaws RAM is what's slowing my components down. I e-mailed them (didn't want to wait in the imaginary line on the phone) and got a reply: they expect to receive the Ripjaws about 1-2 weeks from now. The guy suggested that I should replace it with some other RAM pieces. My best bet seems to be this one: www.jimms.fi/tuote/F3-12800CL9D-8GBXLIt's practically the same as the one I'm ordering: www.jimms.fi/tuote/F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRLexcept that the former one has just two sets of RAM and the Latency: 9-9-9-24-2N when compared to 9-9-9-24 from the ones that are out of stock. What does the 2N in the end mean? Should I go with this one or wait 1-2 weeks for them to restock? Of course I'd buy two of them, getting 16Gb or RAM in total once again and even saving 10€ in the process. And these ones are available right now. Then the only item slowing my new computer would be the HDD, which should be available next week.

Just make sure they are compatable with your motherboard and everything will be fine.

Update: My components have been sent today. It may take some time for them to handle them properly, but everything should arrive 1-4 days from now.
Goodbye money
Welcome powerful PC

Get ready to fire it up. It should drain the power grid when turned on for the first time.
Looking forward to getting you back on the Battlefield.

Feels like Christmas. First I got a pile of Alistair MacLean's novels, including the Guns of Navarone, for free and now I got all my computer parts... though not for free. I will report back again once I'm operational with the new computer and what games will I have installed and working. I guess the first game will be some random crap test game to see that everything's working, and then I'll move on to Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and other games.
BF3 won't be the first game I'll install simply because I don't want to hassle around with Battlelog and Origin so soon. (and I'll install my favourite games first) Are the Origin usernames/passwords the same as the EA master ones?
How good is the XP compatibility with Windows 7 Professional? I mean, if I'm about to test whether my computer can run games like they're meant to, can I test it with a XP game? Will I be forced to use a XP compatibility mode?
