WOW, where did this come from I love driving games and didn't give this a second glance. Then I read the PC Gamer review. This is how they summed up: 'Unexpectedly engrossing. Heed the mockers and you will miss one of the PC's finest and freshest driving games'Since giving this game a go I am totally hooked. You take on a job, hitch up the load, take it to the destination, reverse it into a parking bay, drop the load, get paid. The object is to earn enough cash to buy your own rig, expand your garage, buy another rig and employ a driver then continue to expand your company. It doesn't sound much but it is totally addictive ;D Dam, tea is ready. I will come back to this soon A couple of interesting facts: The roads cover all the UK and most of Europe. Time changes from day to night along with the weather, meaning use of lights is required. Radio stations accessed from your cab or your own mp3's (I've been tuning into 'Kicking Country') A big modding community Great stuff Here are a couple of links: forum.scssoft.com/viewforum.php?f=3 ets2.lt/

I may have hinted about this game's existence to wobbly... don't blame me! There's a free demo available, so you can try to resist the charm.
Let's hope wobbly doesn't get excited about other obsucre simulators, like the Street Cleaning Simulator!

I am not a Country music fan. There are some country songs and a handful of country singers that I like. This guy is going to make it big:

We have a game like this here in the States. It is called 18 Wheels Of Steel. There are a few different versions and all only include an abbreviated version of a small portion of the US and I think one included a very small portion of Australia. The maps were so small I grew tired of the game after only a few jobs and never did anything worthwhile. Sounds like this one is different and I will have to give it a shot. I will have to remember to put my gear lever on the wrong side while playing for a bit more authenticity.

Remember that there is a free trial version, which allows you to try out pretty much everything, but there's a time limit or a progression limit. Also, the gear level is on the wrong side only in the UK, not in the rest of the Europe. Of course, if you take a ferry from France to England or vice versa, you will get confused when everyone's suddenly driving on the wrong side! www.eurotrucksimulator2.com/

When you purchase a truck you choose left or right hand drive. Right for UK and left for Europe. Most of the map area is Central Europe so should suit US drivers.(driving on the wrong side) I will put in some screens of the map. It is quite interesting doing a job from eg. London to Paris. It takes some getting used to changing from driving on the left to the right in one trip. An example of distance and time. A trip of 500 miles from London to Glasgow will take around 1hr. Now I am pretty tired after a trip like that, especially at night in the rain. A 1000 mile plus job is possible. The next patch is expanding the map further East into Europe. It doesn't look like heading North into your neck of the woods Al. There is a Winter mod though which converts the whole game into 'Ice Road Truckers' ;D There are rumors of the next game being called 'US Truck Sim', so one to look out for.

Oh, this thread shouldn't be removed, instead Scriv should create a whole new sub-section for this! The forum will be filled with threads about this game! I bet everyone will be hooked in a week at most. ;D
I completely forgot how good the game looked. Wobbly, does the engine sound muffled when your head is inside the cockpit? Of course you do know that by looking to the far left (or far right if the driver's seat is on the "wrong" side) you can put yor head out of the window and see better. But that's when I heard the engine much louder. I wonder if it was a bug or if the interiors really are almost sound proof in real trucks? That would make sense, because truck drivers hear the engine for hours upon hours every day, which could make someone insane or at least damage their hearing.

Yes Al, things are relatively quiet in the cab. I was hoping to be able to open the windows to hear that Scannia growl, but no There are plenty of mods for 'real' engine sounds or louder sounds. I have tried a few and they sound great, but become annoying after a while. Besides, I like to listen to the radio on long hauls ( ), which is relaxing. The mods are really easy to install. Once downloaded, they just drop into the 'mod' folder in 'My Documents' All the external views give you the louder sounds if you can drive like that. Are we not tempting you BTTF ? When you are on the road I recommend the Scannia or MAN trucks Edit: Just found this on the SCS Forum 'SCS is working in a DLC of Scandinavia, but no data to the release.'ETS2 is coming your way Al ;D

Okay, after I saw those screen shots I realized this game looks a lot like the 18 Wheels Of Steel series. It turns out that SCS is the creator of both games. 18WOS was extremely simple and was being marketed through ValueSoft. The games sold for around $10. Extreme trucker was the last one I purchased and it didn't have licensed trucks, you couldn't modify them and the maps were extremely limited. You had three choices:
-Hauling road train loads across the outback of Australia.
-The dangerous mountain roads from either China or Bolivia.
-And the Alaska ice road.
Needless to say it got boring quick and is possibly their worst creation. Earlier releases at least let you start a business and hire other drivers which I enjoyed, but, the maps were still very small and got old quick.
It looks like SCS ditched ValueSoft and stepped up their game in a big way. Apparently the 18WOS titles were way more popular than I thought and let them expand to what we see here today. I have purchased and am downloading as I type.
