The Version 0.6 of Project Reality has a massive list of changes and additions including an overhauled commander assets system and new Militia Faction. They strived to create a mod that's as realistic as possible. Kits such as Crewman, AA Rifleman, Sniper, and Pilot are limited and must be requested before you can use a vehicle, artillery, or fly a jet. An important part of the commander role involves deploying assets such as bunkers, sand bags and artillery which then need to be built using the shovel kit item that many classes come with. They've also got numerous new game modes, weapons, and skins. Overall, the gameplay pace is slightly more measured as it only takes a few bullets to kill you, placing a strong emphasis on cautious movement, tactical play, and team work. www.realitymod.com/files.html

Now at version 0.8 - - The link above is still good for the download
Included within are a new game mode (Counter-Attack), new vehicles (the Scimitar IFV and Challenger 2 tank, among others), alterations to flight characteristics of aircraft and many other alterations to encourage realistic team play.
Jets and attack helicopters across the board are now using the new laser designation system, allowing infantry units to select targets for attack. In addition, squad leaders and Special Forces troops can call in air support via the commander in the form of a 2,000lb JDAM bomb.
Two new maps - "The Battle for Quinling" and "Fool's Road" allow the Militia, People's Liberation Army and British Armed Forces to showcase their new weaponry and vehicles. Quinling, stretching over 17km2, is a massive combined-arms battle with jets, helicopters, tanks and armoured personnel carriers all battling it out on the shores of a large lake. The stunning scenery and the all-new effects off the river's rapids contain enough eye-candy to make you stop and stare! Fool's Road, a pitched engagement in the Baltic between the Militia and the British also features a stunning array of mountains, cliff tops and amazing views, along with more unique statics and a distinct style of play garnered by the Militia's need to engage the British up close and personal!
The pace of game play has been slowed considerably by the removal of the squad leader spawn and the mini-map. Soldiers now need to guard their lives carefully, and it has become vital for squads to protect their rally points. The slower pace of play has made good tactical planning via the use of the full-sized map a necessity, and woe betide any infantryman who fails to pay proper attention to his surroundings!
Commanders are now free again to devote time to the greater overall picture by issuing build orders to their squad leaders - putting the responsibility for building and maintain defenses firmly in the hands of front-line troops. In addition, Commanders are now able to designate areas for attack by Close Support aircraft, landing zones for transport helicopters and GPS co-ordinates for guided munitions.
Building on the Kit Limiting system from previous releases, Squad Leaders with sufficient soldiers in their squad may spawn directly as an Officer. Meanwhile, Riflemen have the option of spawning with or without optics (the new ACOG sight in the case of the USMC), and special kits such as Snipers, Special Forces, Heavy Anti-Tank troops and MANPAD missile launchers may only be requested from well-stocked armories such as Firebases and Bunkers. Militiamen are now able to request all types of kit; however the quality of their weaponry may leave something to be desired still!

Alright, so I got to try this mod out. It's amazing!
It's much, MUCH slower paced than vanilla BF2, but each kill feels so much more worth it.
My only comment on the air aspect (as you all know I've been working on that) is that in PR, don't even bother with jets. They're very powerful, but to reload your arsenal you have to land the jet (BF2, not so hard, PR? Much harder) and taxi to the repair/munitions area. Helis, I haven't tried, but they're so valuable that if you dart/flip a heli you're not going to get out with just a "silly newb," because jets and helis have a 10 minute timer on them, and you've got a squad or two that have to go on a nature walk cussing you out the whole time. This also means that you value every piece of equipment more than in BF2--you're even docked points for losing equipment when you're in it, whether it was darted or you just got shot down. You also need a certain kit (can't remember what it's called) to drive / operate most things--grunts can't do it. There's definitely a pilot kit, can't remember what the other's called.
Commanders have none of the usual abilities, but they're effective for coordination and other such. The one I played with was useful while he was around--he coordinated the helo squad to drop off two supply crates (need 2 to build a forward position, e.g. a bunker) and the completion of them, then he left.
Squad leaders can become Officers (a kit) which allows them to construct forward positions (which come with Jeeps, hurrah no more nature walks), AA guns, .50cals, etc. The most important is the supply point, which is the equivalent to the mobile spawn point in BF2, only it needs to be constructed. This also means it's destroyable.
As for grunts, the specialized and common kits are interesting. The common kits are always available (except for Officer) and the spec kits are available only if there's enough supply (as in, it's a limit per team, I believe). So if you want to be a heavy anti-tank, you'd better get it first. I really could have used a marksman/sniper kit, but no such luck. Using 7/8 shots to kill someone who should have gone down in 1 = not fun, especially when you're relying on stealth, as you NEED to protect your life (1 minute spawn + death time (+3sec/death), not to mention the helo ride/walk). Kits are important, and so is survival.
Anyway, freaking awesome mod. You have to DL the core install and the maps, and then give me a shout and we'll do some PR.

Exhilarating!!
Wow!! It's like the hunt with your raised senses. I have had a similar experience fighting in BF2, COD, and Medal of Honor (MoH) where your adrenaline gets pumping. We will see if the sensation lasts.
Much slower paced. Excellent for teamwork and communication. If nothing else, it will be an excellent tool for our team.
Maps are much bigger. Fought on several maps. Body ground movement and weapon movement to acquire the sights is slower. You can't just jump in and out of vehicles to use them.
The three matches of longer duration went great with K/D ratios of 7:3, 7:3, and 8:4. Two of the partial matches of shorter duration did not go as well. One of those maps we filled the APC with friendly personnel, got about 500m out the gate, and hit a mine.
bruno and I had a good time.

Oh no, thats not good news Meat, here are the official system requirements
Project Reality uses more effects, more code, includes larger maps, with more objects, which is taxing on systems. As such, the recommended specifications are higher than that of standard BF2. Please note that you must have BF2 patched to the latest version of 1.40 before installing PR.
Minimum Specification: CPU: 1.7 GHz RAM: 1 GB Video Card with at least 128 MB of RAM
Recommended Specification: CPU: 2.4 GHz RAM: 2 GB Video Card with at least 256 MB of RAM
If you meet the requirements try reinstalling. If you have Vista remember to run the game as administrator.

bruno and laserman both ran into problems with crashes during loading. Th solution was to adjust your video setting to match your desktop. bruno can provide more details.
