Could you define "official clan game"? Does it mean that everyone has to own it? And by "Arma" I assume that you mean the series as a whole, rather than just the first game no one even plays anymore.
This could split the clan up to some degree: one half just playing Arma/Day Z and the other half playing BF3, with people occasionally playing other games. But that's just the worst case scenario.
My guess is that people would sometimes play Arma, sometimes BF3 but leaning towards one of them and playing that one more.
At this point I can't decide what do I think.

I certainly agree that ArmA 2 (and 3 when it comes out) become 'official' clan games -- meaning they are fully supported and encouraged by the clan. Obviously some people like it more than others; that is just the way video games are. I agree with Al in that there will always be a split with clan members; sometimes I would rather play Battlefield than ArmA 2/DayZ, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I don't enjoy playing both, nor does it mean that I will play one much more often than the other. In fact, normally when I log in, I see what games other Spartans are currently playing (if anyone is logged in to TS at all), and then that's what I play -- as long as I have the time.

I think perhaps when ArmA3 has arrived. If it is better than ArmA2 (and it should be) then most will move on to that It looks like DayZ will be possible on 3.

Yes, I don't see why not. It is a game which fits in with the ethos of the clan. Of course all "official " games are encouraged as opposed to mandatory so no one should feel pressured into purchasing/playing. It is a game which has already become popular in the clan with the DayZ mod. I wish I could find the time and interest in learning the controls as I was a big fan of Operation Flashpoint and it's expansions.

I am leaning toward, "yes" and cast my vote for "Yes."
Five people have posted, but we only have 3 votes. Can everyone please vote and post on this important issue?

I voted yes. As far as I can tell only BF2, PR and BF3 are listed as official games and a lot of members don't have them installed. So I'm not entirely sure what "official game" means or even if its necessary to continue to have that designation.

I voted yes, this is a long time coming and ArmA III looks to be an excellent continuation.

Sorry, forgot to vote I voted yes. I will be getting Arma3. I agree with McGuirk's point though, on whether any of these games should be 'required/official'.

I honestly don't see why we shouldn't. There have been a few of us that have purchased ArmA2 for the warfare mods and DayZ recently. I purchased it for the PR mod. It has proven to be a versitile platform that we would all enjoy. There are still a few naysayers but I know if they tried it they would enjoy it. Yes it is a little more complicated and in depth but the learning curve really isn't that steap. So I say yes. ArmA should be required. And those who don't have all the required games need to be promptly booted from the clan.

I voted yes as alot of clan members enjoy this game and its mods such as DAY Z, i will be getting Arma 3 whatever the result of this vote is! Taz i think booting people from the clan would be a little harsh as some of the older games such as BF2 and PR etc... will never be played as commonly as they use to be and maybe its time to update the required games to more modern games and move the older games to the optional games of the clan otherwise we will over populate our required games list which i believe will put new people off joining the clan in the future.

I think we need a better definition of "official clan game". Arma 2 and Battlefield 3 are pretty much on the opposite sides of complexity and scale, which has lead the more action-oriented players to play BF3 and the more tactical players to play Arma 2. Of course there's also the thing that a match in BF doesn't last nearly as long as in Arma.
Spartan had some good suggestions about required clan games somewhere. You can't just make people spend their money on a game they don't want to play. Something like "Main clan games: BF3, Arma 2, Day Z. Supported clan games: Forgotten Hope 2, Project Reality etc" and you have to own at least one of the main clan games.

I agree terminology and organizational language are important. Defining the meaning of words used within the organization ensures common understanding. Some very good points have been made. I will prepare a response. It is healthy for the clan to have these kinds of discussions. Managing Exceptations

I am happy to get Arma3 which hopefully should be released shortly. I have Arma2 + Operation arrowhead but cant get OA to work. Feel like snapping the disk in two. I think Al does have a very valid point in that these games are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I have to admit I do have a pretty short attention span so prefer the faster paced games. But I know a lot of the clan enjoy the more tactical games, I personally think it would be good to have a spread of games to cater for everyones needs. I agree with those who have commented on what 'official' means.
