I'm not sure if there's any interest in this, but I'm debating creating a way to add, edit and remove news posts to the website without having to modify source code. Privileges would be based on secure user log in, which I can (and probably will) provide as well. It's doable, but I'm not going to do it if it's not wanted.

I don't think the website needs to be altered by all of our members. The forum is the primary means of self expression.
A similar issue is the ability for Members only to upload images (photos). I was thinking if we shared a common "face book" account or similar web hosting set-up would be a possible solution.

I was thinking more along the lines of just the News / Event organizers, but it's much easier for me if I don't have to code this. Still an option, but I'd be happy with not

Being able to have the Events updated on the website as well as the forum would be of value.

Hey Milk, there was another thread where we were talking about RSS feeds,, maybe have the news entered into the DB, then produce a feed, and then a small feed reader on the main page, that way others can get the feed if they were so inclinded?

That would probably be the easiest way. I'll look into it

Do we really need a RSS feed? The forum isnt massive, it doesnt take long to get through the new posts. It seems like a lot of work but if your willing to do it then go for it Milk I would use it if it were avalible. Im lazy

I think the idea is the feed would just be for news/announcements and not to track the entire forum

Any news usually comes to me by email from Scriv, I'm sure this is the same for every one. I get a link to the pacific part of the forum that need attention. That being said sometimes if it is in the members section of the forum i then need to type the password and after that you just get the normal members screen so it can be hard to find which topic the email is related to.

Yeah that was the trend of convo in the RSS feed post--less email, more direct kind of deal. I still think email is important, because it's immediate... Honestly? The email flow right now is fine, RSS is just eye-candy. I, however, am a big fan of eye candy.

I think an RSS elevates our organizational status and makes us seem more professional. I think additional features will be noticed by prospective applicatants.
