I have a microphone that worked perfectly fine, then I unplugged it from my computer one day since there were too many cables, now when I plug it back in, it doesnt seem to work. Is there anyway to solve this problem? , and I have windows Vista

Make sure you put it back into the correct hole. The red hole is for the microphone and the green is for the speakers. If you have a separate audio card, there are multiple holes for front, center, rear, and subwoofer speakers.
If you have a front and back microphone hole on the computer, try switching.
If you have a separate audio card, turn-off the computer, open the computer, pull the card out, and put it back in. Be sure not to do this while standing on carpet due to static electricity. Touch the ground before touching components or the motherboard.
Good Luck

I felt that at our last Gathering Communications were bad to say the least! Most of the time I couldn't hear a word a some people were saying, the cause could be a couple of things:
First, i noticed that very few people use headphones which means that when you hold down the key to speak most of what I can hear is the game being played on your PC with you trying to shout over it.
Second, the other reason may be Mic position. The Mic needs to be a few inches from your mouth depending on quality of Mic and background noise. It needs to be close enough to actually pick up your voice, but far enough away to not pick up the large amounts of air that is being pushed out of your mouth.
Other considerations are voice & mic volumes, location, and hardware.
- Try not to shout into the Mic. There are plenty of settings on your sound card and windows itself to help pick up your voice and shouting only pushes more air into the Mic and distorts your voice or makes difficult to hear other sounds. For instance, within BF2 there is an option to turn 'Mic Boost' on, this can bring you voice up by as much as 20db.
- Obviously, location around the globe can effect the quality of sound being heard to a degree. However, I have absolutely no problems hearing some of you who live on the other side of the world and can't hear a word others are saying who are closer.
- It's just a thought, but you can buy a headset with Mic built-in cheap these days. I myself use a Creative Gamer X-Fi Sound card with a Creative fatality headset. I find that this set-up works great and it has the added benefit that you don't hear my game in the background!

I will agree. You can hear the background game, or like a fuzzy sound that is annoying. Some of us have bad mics that are a few years old. I will probably buy myself a headset like Angry to make life easier.
Angry, is the headset you are using comfortable, reliable and does it have a lot of wires attaached to it. If anything I wil get a wireless set so I can go run around and still be able to talk to you guys.

The set I have has one thin and very long wire on it, the headphones are etreamly comfertable and I usually hate having headphones on my ears, they also have loads of volume, to much really. Im really pleased with them and I have had 5 different sets in the last year to try and find the right one for me. =SWF=Angry

When my mic broke I ended up picking up the cheapest thing at Circuit City ... the Cyber Acoustics (says that on the side). Its a headset with only 1 speaker, on the same side as where the mic is. I believe it was like $15, but hte mic works perfect and you can plug just the mic jack in and use your own headphones, with the CA mic hanging around your neck and the mic positioned for speech, if you start getting a headache from only listening through 1 ear.

I went to staples and thats what the salesman recommended.I bought it and can't wait to try it thank you all.
