Ping Check for Different Servers

Members please provide your ping for each server. Please do not take any short cuts, actually get on the server run/drive around, hit the "Tab" key to check your ping. Why not use a website that checks server ping for your computer? Because some servers can look okay from a distance, but can be choppy or have a ping limit. So provide comments for servers if there are issues.

I couldnt join to that ip address, I looked on their site and found this ip which works fine:

OK my average ping was 164, I had no lag at all, very smooth.
When I played there weren't many NUNYA players on the server so I cant comment on any strengths or weaknesses.

8.12.64.10 - couldn't get on this server

72.37.185.26 - was able to get on the server with an average ping about 63 but it did have a couple flickers of choppiness. I put my collected intel on my adversary in the Operation NUNYA thread.

My ping was around 80. Its choppy in the beginning but then it gets better.

A lot of variables go into this study, but let's try to determine the best locations for servers.

Most of our members are in the United States and Europe. I am thinking the best site for a BF2 ranked server will be near the coastal areas of the Atlantic Ocean.

Here are my thoughts on top possibilities:

New York
Washington D.C.
London
Amsterdam

Here are some other considerations:

- Atlanta or another city may be cheaper due to the southern part of the U.S. usually being cheaper. And, the Euro/USD exchange rate makes a US likely less expensive.

- With the growing prevalence of fiber optic cabling, it may not matter much as long as it is a big city in the U.S. or Western Europe.

- My experience in Korea was good pings for Korea, China, and Japan; okay rates for Austalia and the U.S., and bad pings for Germany.

As we explore the options, let's find a good option for a unranked server and then a GREAT option for a RANKED server.
