Yesterday I downloaded and installed the latest Geforce driver, 320.18. Today my screen has been freezing when I just move my cursor too fast. It freezes for a few seconds, but audio still works.
I'm assuming this is caused by the new driver, so how do I go back to an earlier one? I've selected clean install with this and the last few updates, if that makes a difference. I still have the installer for the last working driver (314.something) on my desktop. Can I just run the old installer? Should I go for a clean install or not?

I know GeForce have their own installer which removes the old drivers, although I don't know if this works when trying to install an older set. You may be better off removing the display drivers manually - Control panel/ Programmes. Restart, then use the drivers you have or one from their archive.

Al, try this. Go to: Control Panel System Device Manager Display Adapters 'Your card' Driver Roll Back Driver I think nVidia remove old drivers with their installation. Might be best to search their site for your card's drivers and download and install previous drivers. I'm worried about installing the latest drivers now

Well, at the moment there doesn't seem to be a problem at all anymore! And I haven't done anything. I forgot to mention that my keyboard (and mouse, which is connected to the USB port in the keyboard) stopped working for a while as well , and it didn't help to connect it to a different USB port in the computer. I had to restart, and then the mouse problems began. So I don't know what was the problem about, but I guess it wasn't about the graphics card driver after all... I guess I instantly thought it had to be caused by the new driver, because that was the only thing that had changed in my system, but I played Fallout: New Vegas just fine for hours last night without any problems. For some reason I haven't been able to think clearly today. The new driver should be safe, but just in case you could save the old, working driver. It even includes Geforce Experience, a program that detects your system and determines optimal settings for the latest games. Not for Planetside 2, though. But if anyone feels like they need to roll back to a previous driver, they can check this thread for instructions. I'll report again if the issues persist. Maybe there was dust in the USB port? EDIT: Ooops, spoke too soon. The screen is freezing again. I just played the low-fi game EGGNOGG (check the freeware games thread), and the screen froze several times. Not once during gameplay, though. it froze a couple of times when starting the game and when closing it. Then I started Firefox and it froze a gain for a few seconds. And I can't click "roll back driver" (it's in Finnish so I'm not 100% if it's the same, it just says "previous driver) because it's grayed out. That's what it means when you do a clean install. The old drivers got deleted and uninstalled. I'm going to revert back but I don't know what is the best way... Should I just uninstall the current driver, restart the computer and install the old one?

I think if you install the previous drivers it should remove the present ones. Try that first. If not delete drivers, re start, install new ones. When you download the drivers, leave them on the desktop for easy access. Good luck ;D

I ran the installer for 314.22, the last working driver. I selected custom install so I could select clean install. Soon the monitor shut down, but when the image came back, it was at a very low resolution (I know this happens when you install new drivers). Then I saw a black screen with a blinking line on it. I guess it was some sort of a BIOS screen? I tried hitting F5, F8, Esc and Del, because one of the fans inside my computer went crazy. I had to restart the computer with from the button in the front, and I selected normal Windows start-up. According to Nvidia control panel, I now have driver version 314.22 installed. I'm just not sure what exactly happened, and is the driver really installed or not. We'll see what happens in the next few days.

Seems weird Al At least you are back to your previous drivers. To confirm your current drivers, go to NVIDIA Control Panel and click on System Information at the bottom left ;D I will attempt to install tomorrow and will let you know how it goes

This is why I only install new drivers when I have issues with the games I am playing. I think I still have the version previous to .22.

I've been using 314.22 for a while now and the mouse problem is gone.
