Instead of three postures (stand, crouch, prone) there are eight. Stand, low standing, high crouch, normal crouch, low crouch, high prone (immobile stance), normal prone and low prone. You can use the F and V keys to move between the major stances like before. The more precise changing is made by holding down the left Ctrl key and then pressing A or S. I have also purchased it. I decided to try out the first showcase and died quickly while admiring the scenery. The graphics are excellent! I have also tried wastelands with PCGN and found myself imersed in the graphics and not doing much again. I decided it was time to get into the editor and fly around so I could get it out of my system. Here are a few shots of what I saw. I started at the airfield. It has a temporary look to it with all the canvas tents and mobile buildings. Even the hangars have a fabric texture to them.  Here are a couple of the town near the airfield.   A look at the shoreline from a small island north of the town. There are several around the island.  Most of the island has very rocky shores and short clifs. Very realistic.  And, the one everyone here wants to see. Its labeled as 'The Spartan' on the map.  Finally we have a look at the fire and smoke system after I got tired of flying around an empty map.  I don't have the graphics cranked up yet but I do have some room for improvement as I was getting around 48 FPS while flying around. |

It all seems very limited at the moment but hey, its an alpha and they have already said more content will be added. You are able to do things like change uniform or run around in underwear. The weapons seem limited, by that I mean, there are only a couple of weapon types but of those types you have loads of varients. You can place a suppressor on or change to differnt scope mounts. Vehicle wise there is only little bird and a russian type. Both can be either attack or passanger only. One cool option I've seen is the ability to give the copilot the control of bird. The only driven vehicles att are the quad and armoured 4x4 with either 40mm grenade or I think 20mm gun mounted on top. There are two types of water borne vehicle, the zodiac and the gun boat. Diving is quite cool but no underwater vehicles as of yet. Its early days yet but the potential is huge.
How does the game run, well I have a i7 920 6gb ram and ati 5850 card. I can run it on high without any problems noticed as of yet. But I doubt that I have set up the game correctly. What fps can I get, well I cant tell att but as soon as I know, I'll say.
I went for the deluxe version but on hindsight, I should have only got the alpha version. Oh well.

How good is the performance compared to Arma 2? The devs said that a computer that can run Arma 2 should be able to run Arma 3 just as well.

I have maxed out all the settings to 'Ultra' and things look smooth.
i5-2500, GTX 670 & 8GB RAM
This is on the single player missions, so could slow down on multiplayer.
