This is an interesting question. Do you invert the y-axis? Do you only do it with specific games, do you have it inverted on the desktop as well, what are the reasons behind this?
I personally don't see any reason to invert it in any case. I play on the Xbox so rarely that I can't remember if it's inverted or not. To be clear, this is about all kinds of games, consoles and computers.
(I couldn't find a way to make a poll.)

This has been an issue for me over the years. I am not nor do I pretend to be an online gaming aviator. And, did not get into flying until I decided I wanted to be able to fly the helicopters in BF2. It was not an easy path to venture on for me. Early on, I would just get in the helicopter and then parachute when I got to where I was going. I did get to where I could take off and land at multiple sites. But, aerial combat was a disaster waiting to happen. When I transitioned to BFBC2, I was challenged as which way I used the mouse (the "Y" axis) for flying in BF2. I went through a similar deal (again, the "Y" axis) in ArmA 2: DayZ which resulted in a serious helicopter crash near the Black Mountain Castle. I kept over compensating and plowed the helicopter into the ground.

Could you use your magical powers to turn this into a poll?
I just realised that I always invert the y-axis when I'm flying. I still fly with the mouse and keyboard, but I'm getting decent at it. Landing is the biggest problem, and often in PS2 I end up crashing. Luckily, I usually play as light assault so I have a jetpack to dampen the fall. It's just not always enough.
I didn't get whether you were using inverted y-axis for flying in those games or not, Scriv. Many games allow to invert soldier, (land) vehicle, helicopter and plane controls individually. That might help if you're having troubles. But Arma 2 is a simulator, and I don't think flying without a joystick would be much of a joy. I haven't really tried, though.

I voted other. I don't know if the games are consistent. Knowing DICE they likely changed the Y axis orientation to claim it was a new advance feature.
In all seriousness, I think the Y axis was reversed in between BF2 and BFBC2. One of the flyers could set me straight. I may have changed it in BF2 got used to it. As for BFBC2, I remember wanting to change the Y axis setting and not being able to figure it out. I had to relearn the controls which really messed me up for DayZ. There may be crossed wires somewhere in that story that includes BF3.
I go with pushing forward on the mouse to orient the nose of the aircraft down and pulling back on the mouse orients the nose of the aircraft up.

I voted no. This isn't that much about flying configurations, but about inverting the y-axis in general. Do you do it in first-person shooters? When using the computer for non-gaming stuff? I do invert it for flying, but for nothing else.
I was just interested if the flying enthusiastics or people who started playing with flying games invert the y-axis in every game and maybe even when browsing the internet, due to old habit?
Edit: maybe I should've picked "other" instead of no and perhaps "do you invert the y-axis in FPS games?" would have been a more appropriate question.

When playing any game on a controller, I have to have the y-axis inverted. When playing with a mouse, I invert the y-axis for flight. This is due to the fact that when I was a kid I played quite a few flying games with an actual joystick, and that trained me that forward is down and backward is up. If I try to play a console game without the right stick inverted, it is a disaster.
It's also a disaster if I forget to invert flight controls with the mouse.

I voted yes but for flight only. I too played more flight sims as a young'n than anything else. I used to run inverted for everything but a friend covinced me to try it normal. I have been shoting that way since BF2.
