Here was my desired number of maps before the news was release and some history:
Start with 12 on the disc. Then every 3 months add 2 maps for the first year. That would put the map count a 20 at the one year mark.
Be gentle with this next part. The research I did to put this togther may not be perfect. Just nicely put your correction down with a link to verify.
BF1942 has 18 maps. Shipped in September 2002.
Road to Rome 6 maps in February 2003
Secret Weapons 8 maps in September 2003
Total 32 maps
BFVietnam has 18 maps. Shipped in March 2004
BF2 shipped with 12 maps in June 2005
Received 3 maps (Wake, Road to Jalalabad, Highway Tampa) up to June 2007
Received 7 maps (Armored Fury [3 maps], Euro Force [3 maps], Operation Blue Pearl) in September 2009
Standard BF2 has 22 maps
BF2: Special Forces adds 8 maps
