If anyone is wondering how to alter their settings including keys and joysticks, you can do it all in Campaign Mode. (before actually entering) This saves trying to do it in an actual multiplayer game You do have to test things in-game though.

Good idea as time spent away from game at Settings could get you kicked for being idle...

in addition....
I have found a work around for anyone trying to use a Joystick or Gamepad Controller for Battlefield 3. I use a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad for flight in these kind of games and using the in game key binding I could not get my controller to work correctly. I downloaded Logitech's software for gamepads that came with an editor and setup most of my keys through that and only 2 were set in game for sensitivity reasons, and BLAM it works like a charm now. So if you have a joystick or gamepad download the latest driver/program for your gear and if it has a customizable setup utility use that in combo with the in game menu where applicable.

I have a key binding question. In BFBC2 I was able to change my left ctrl key from momentary crouch to crouch and hold. The same went for the zoom function (right mouse). Momentary to hold. I can't figure out how to do the same in BF3. Anybody have any ideas? I hate having to press and hold those keys all the time.

no you don't, for hold crouch its "x", for prone its "z", space bar stands you back up.

Not sure about crouch but the zoom is not in key bindings. If I remember correctly I think it's in Gameplay, one of about 5 options down the left hand side. You can change from needing to be held down or just pushed once to remained zoomed in.

Spartan, Thx for controller suggestion. I have xbox 360 controllers. I'm going to see if I can get drivers for them...

I'm investigating using PS3 6axis controller for pc. I found win 7 drivers at a site called joyinmotion. Their driver software also includes profile creation, so you can map the buttons to whatever keys you want. I haven't gotten to the point of creating the profile, but will do so tonite, and relay my findings. Thx to Spartan for getting me going on this topic... I stayed up way past my bedtime to do this... See what you've caused?! LOL...
