Wob, the email comes under the name of "War Thunder Team" just in case you get it or it goes into your spam.
Initial impressions at the moment are that its arcade in look and looks very similar to "Birds of Prey" but for a free game who is pregnant doging. The object of the game is to take airfields and hold them, you also have to rank up to get better planes which is not a bad thing but the handling leaves a lot to be desired. I put this down at the moment to trying to get to grips and getting my joystick to work. Flying by mouse and keyboard sucks, or this could just be me. I'm sure there is a manual to look at but who reads those things right.... The one thing that stands out for me att is the detail (graphics) much better than Battlefield Play4free.
I'm not allowed to tell you much more for fear of death by the Russians. Its not fair to put you under such a threat.

Wob, it would appear that "Thunder War - world of warplanes" is different to "World of Warplanes". I really don't know what I have now as I only applied to one but have received the other? Go figure. Its still fun with 30+ planes flying around trying to shoot each other down.

What about World of Planes? Is that a different game too? I find it a bit hard to believe that there are two or three games with basically exactly the same names. Maybe it's just one game with different names? Am I the only one seeing connections to Christianity here?  |

I never got around to that, but you can combine the accounts.
Al, you have the correct links for the Alpha. It is confusing though.
The main site is Wargaming.net
Dam, I wish I could get on the Alpha.
Aus, I know it won't be a flight sim. But it looks fun.

Yes Wob I think you're right, sadly. I think I said earlier that it reminded me of "Birds of Prey" and as it turns out the reason I got access to this alpha/beta is because I own said game. I didn't even apply for this but because I put it on the application for the beta of WOWP I'm assuming that that's the reason why.
The down side is that its full of Russians who speak only Russian so you cant ask any questions to try and sort out your joystick issues. And talking about joysticks, at the moment they are only supporting a few.
The only upside for me att, is that its free.

Wobbly my old man, guess what....... I am now a member of world of warplane's global alpha testing WOOHOO!!!!!!!! Have you got yours yet? See you in the sky old boy, tally ho and chocks away lol
I have also just noticed the video that you posted up top here is the "War Thunder" that I got first of all, which is different to "World of Warplane's". So now I've got two, yes two alpha/beta tests going on. lol

No news yet Aus  I have discovered it is only 3rd person view though. Or maybe first person with no cockpit. Bummer Still keeping an eye on it though. |
