Playstation 4 equals a mid-range gaming computer at the moment. In a few years, it will equal a low-end gaming computer. In the years in between, us PC gamers will hopefully be able to enjoy better multiplatform games, since the consoles are this time more powerful than pocket calculators, allowing the developers to make games with not only better graphics, but also bigger maps. It seems that Hitman: Absolution, among some others, suffered from the aging tech. It had stunning graphics, but the levels were much smaller and more linear than the previous Hitman titles.

If I can play ArmA3, Planetside2 and FSX on this thing I'm getting it I doubt I can, but for the price of a mid range graphics card it is a good buy Joking aside, I have a lot of respect for PS. My gaming started with Gran Turismo on PS1. I think only top end PC's kick consoles asses now. It makes me think about bang for buck and why the hell am I sat in front of something the size of a suit case I will return to PS, but not yet. Not yet

The only thing to be said for consoles is that your £400/500 lasts about 8 years. The fact that console technology is now PC based will hopefully mean that that we wont end up with poorly coded ports. PS4 = the left over bits from your last upgrade

Shouldn't you wait for reviews on the console before pre-ordering? I do have faith in Sony making good-quality products worth the price, but still. What if the next Xbox is actually better? I don't think it has been announced yet, so I don't know. There's also the mysterious SteamBox, made by Valve, coming out at some point. It's supposed to be some sort of a hybrid between a PC and a console, or so I've understood. If you don't have a blu-ray player, a PS3 has always been a good choice. The PS4 is probably just as good. I would still recommend to check the alternatives first before drooling all over the floor.

I think we continue to game with our PC's because of the sheer 'geekyness' of it. We build them ourselves, and exchange/upgrade components when possible. This requires lots of research and Googling resulting in conflicting information But we love it. I can't describe the thrill of opening my 'PC Format' to the center pages to be presented with a close up of duel Nvidia GTX's in SLI . Or a beautifully engineered twin fanned heatsink placed aside to reveal the i7 beneath Consoles just don't have it.

I don't buy consoles anymore. Not since the original xbox, which I bought about 6 months before the 360 came out. I enjoy PC gaming better, I enjoy the fact that I can build a system better than a console manufacturer, and I REALLY enjoy the fact that the games I play on PC look BETTER on my PC than the SAME game looks on a console. PCs will always have more power than consoles, because you are actually ALLOWED to upgrade them whenever you want, and people have come up with things like liquid cooling and overclocking. Try to do that on a console and see how fast your warranty goes to shit.

And there are no mods on console games, which is a shame.

I've been buying Playstation after I ditched my SEGA Saturn. Never had a issue with any Sony products plus I have a Vita and it will be compatible with PS4. I gave my launch PS2 to my bosses kids and it is still going strong.
