OK, here are all the optics choices for most weapons. This is for my default Engineer Carbine I'm sorry the weather wasn't too good, I will try daylight next time  I was standing in the same position for all apart from the NV. I hope it helps choosing. I have found with Eng/Medic/Light Assault the (2X) to be the best as all these weapons are close/med range. I tried the (3.4X) and (4X) but couldn't hit shit with these classes. Heavy Assault is waiting for these optics TecLyte reflex (1X)  HS/NV (1X)  GD Reflex (2X) My Choice ;D  Laco (3.4X)  LX Tacti-Eye (3.4X)  LX Mark IV/Trueshot (4X) They both looked the same to me   |

I'm using the LX tacti-eye 3.4x with the medic gun. In my hands it's a devastating combination. It's providing enough zoom to take out distant targets and in close quarters I don't even aim through the sight. In medium range it's very accurate even full auto. I haven't found the need for a foregrip, although when shooting at long range I have to wait a moment after every shot to hit accurately.

Now with the new VR Training map, all these sights can be tried out for all weapons.
There is a day-night rotation so you can try out the NV and thermal sights also.

I still can't access that LX 3.4x scope with the medic's rifle. I lost access to it after a patch weeks ago. It's showing up as purchased in the upgrade menu, but I can't select it at a weapon/class terminal. I'm using a 2x scope as a substitute, but it's not as good.

Al, can you equip the Laco 3.4x ? It has a dot instead of a cross hair, but you are used to the 3.4.

I don't know, I don't have it. I think I prefer the cross hair over a red dot anyway. As you've noticed, these days I mostly play as light assault so it doesn't really matter.

For those wondering about thermal or night vision for vehicle weapons, here are a couple of shots of Lambourne 'hiding' in a dark corner  This is thermal. not much range but better IMO than NV.   |
