Just got my 14 day trial, and so far I'm really enjoying it. There a LOT of things to do, places to explore, and it's out in space! How could someone not enjoy it? It seems like it takes quite a bit of time to do anything super-awesome, but I think it's awesome simply warping between planets and systems. I warped through a planet last night, that was intense... I thought I was going to crash into it, and suddenly I'm on the other side, still warping.

I don't think I would like it, but I find virtual crime in it very interesting. Players have used their cunning to make up complicated plots and execute them almost flawlessly. Here's my favourite one, from Wikipedia: (and the only one I know ) One infamous example was a corporate infiltration and heist where one corporation infiltrated a target corporation over the course of nearly a year. They then performed a virtual assassination on the target's CEO and proceeded to steal corporate property to which they had gained access. The target corporation lost billions of ISK worth of property (amounting to about $16,500 USD) and a great deal of prestige; the CEO's expensive ship and cybernetic implants were destroyed in the attack. Events of this nature are debated both inside the game world and in the media. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eve_online#Virtual_crime

Well here's two videos I took while playing EVE, just to show you some of the cool things you can do. Also, check out the vastness of space, and get a very small idea of how incredibly not small the game is. If you have some intelligence and enjoy exploring things and figuring out problems with small amounts of information (unless you ask in the 'Rookie Help' chat channel), then this is a game to check out. There is a 14-day trial... so there's really no reason not to at least try it out for a few hours. Check out this video of me mining two asteroids at the same time, while orbiting one: And here's a very slightly edited battle sequence (in one of the training missions -- you can just imagine what a large battle would entail): Link to download the trial: secure.eveonline.com/trial/As I am still a trial member, I am unable to take advantage of the refer-a-friend program, but I will be purchasing game-time this Friday when I get paid. Then I can give out links for anyone who thinks they will join. Hope to see you online soon!! Off-Topic: I have a Steam Code for a free download of Duke Nukem Forever, in case anyone wants it. If you liked the old Duke Nukem games, you might enjoy killing pig aliens and solving short/small puzzles along the way. It's not the deepest storyline ever, but it is pretty fun to play casually.

I cant go back to EVE Online, if most of you think I am an absolute a$$hole in other games, EVE Online literally makes me 10 times worse and that effect carries over to people near me in real life when I play EVE. I have banished myself and my girl of 9 years has also banished me from playing this game (mutual agreement), while EVE is a very in-depth game with a super high and unforgiving learning curve, it is at times tons of fun, but it will consume both your time and persona, Be Warned.
Also Al, that post about the Billions of Isk loss, it was during the Northern Coalition & Fatal Ascension vs Pandemic Legion war for 0.0 Space. I was a member of the Northern Coalition and Fatal Ascension at that time and participated in many many battles that eventually led our hidden spy to really mess Pandemic Legions forces up who were for all intensive purposes "in our back yard", the Spy who did this still has a death bounty on his head for the next 20 years in game, each time you kill him you earn 250 Million Isk, at the time he did this his global bounty was up to 80 BILLION ISK, anyone who managed to hack his account would be given 1000 REAL US DOLLARS. Players in EVE will hack your game account if you really anger them, there are people who have been murdered in real life over this game, it gets crazy.

Well as with any in-depth MMO, it does have the potential to consume nearly every waking hour of your life. But I learned my lesson with WoW; I will not sink my whole self into this game. I guess if you really get yourself wrapped up in the politics of the game it could have an adverse effect, but as with every MMO I play, as well as in real life, I ignore the politics and just try to have a good time. I find that I am able to be an adult, and understand the distinction between real life, real people, and a video game. I am not recommending anyone put thousands of hours into this game and go crazy on it, I'm simply showing off a few of the cool things about it, and how nice it looks. For anyone interested in space and stars and interstellar travel, this can be a nice escape from the mundane life we all share on this planet. An escape, for a few hours at a time, not a place to merge your life into. I don't know about you Spartan, but I have gained self-control since my days of WoW, and can now enjoy MMORPGs without completely immersing myself in a fictitious universe to the point where I become an 'a$$hole'.

Its just with EVE Online I work with Corporations out in 0.0 (null sec), out there everything is political, when you lose a ship and depending upon how you lost it is a huge deal, I just got tired of that. When I play most games I immerse myself in them to make me feel more like I am there, thus enhancing gameplay to me, EVE Online while a great game and probably the most successful MMO next to WOW, has lots to offer, but again if you are not accustomed to this kind of environment it can be very hostile and very time consuming.
That being said, despite my failures and dislikes, I have been extremely successful and last time I logged on (about 1 year ago) I had a net worth of 800 Million Isk that I managed to acquire in 2 months.
