From Merchant Schilling to the PCGN community:
It's time to spread a little Christmas Cheer in Day-Z! I, the merchant, will be hosting a Christmas party at the merchant outpost today (Sunday night) at aproximately 9:30 p.m. EST. There will be be gift giving from myself, so you might as well call me Santa. The gifts will be decent, nothing too spectacular as we aren't in stock of 20+ NVGs. There will be plenty of feasting on steaks, Coke, and Sardines. I also hear Rahl will be giving free kisses under the mistletoe located behind the Medical Tent.
And to wrap it all up, we will be having a fireworks display once it is dark enough in game. I will also be needing a choir to sing Christmas music in Direct Chat to really set the mood. I hear SWF have very uhh... lovely voices.
Rules: Please don't bring any weapons there, leave them at your camps, don't want any nonsense throwing down once people get drunk off Coke. Also, don't pregnant dog about your gift. If you really want, we can sit around a fire and play "Secret Santa."
That is all for now, I hope everyone will be able to attend, if you can't, let me know and I'll still give you something!
Thanks,
Merchant Schilling (Santa)
P.S. I also recommend bringing your backpack (Cleaned out) so you can keep your gifts handy dandy.

I was the only attendee from SWF last night. You all missed a good time. The played a "lets make a deal" gift giveaway. You would choose one out of three tents. Before looking inside you would have a chance to take what was on the ground in the barraks tent instead. I took what was in the barraks tent and came out with a ghillie suit. Later when everyone had recieved their gifts three items were placed in each of the three tents and you could trade what you recieved for the three items. I took the chance and got a compass, camo clothing, a Mountain Dew and an entrenching tool. After that we had a zombie hatcheting contest in nearby Rogovo. I didn't win but others came out worse. A couple died and one came close to death loosing by TKO. Chopper rides were available to recover your gear that could be left in one of the many tents set up at the merchant center. My entrenching tool came up missing in the mix but I didn't need it anyway and I think it was a glitch. The grand finaly was one of the merchants firing 203 flairs from the tower in the merchant center while others attempted singing carrols. Wish everyone could have made it. We could have carted off the two tents full of stuff that they set up for us. They are full of all the items we lost in the reset and then some. They said we could come back at any time to pick it all up.

Lol......I feel like maybe I'm missing something here :/ Yes, indeed... There are a number of folks missing out on a tremendous experience. I, unfortunately, usually do the same thing. I usually pick a game up after the serious participation has already occurred. I will likely regret having not participated more in Shogun II, the ArmA 2 Armored Warfare mod, Company of Heroes Blitzkrieg mod, etc... Even, Planet Side 2. There are even a couple of folks tryig out Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2). I'll bet it is good.

...Emphasis on the word 'trying'. It seems that Lambourne has vanished from the face of the planet. I haven't heard of him in five days.

Yes I do regret not giving DayZ more time. But unfortunately with limited gaming time the steep learning curve and daunting controls of ArmA2 is a bit off putting for me.

... steep learning curve and daunting controls of ArmA2 ... Understood. I owned ArmA for a long time before I was bit by the bug. Initially, I found the learning curve too steep, the User Interface (U/I) overly complex, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) maddening. With the unethical behavior of DICE, I was driven away from the Battlefield series and with intense patient training from Spartan I have grown to love the DayZ mod. Of course, every video game has room for improvement. We will have to see if the developers get it right with ArmA 3.
