Intel i5 3570K £175 Intel i7 3770k £245 With one of these MB, checkout specs and don't pay for stuff your not likely to use. I have the P8Z77-V LX and the auto overclocking takes my i5 3570k from 3.4 to 4.2 Ghz with an average after market cooler. uk.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/Intel_Z778gb of 1600mhz ram GTX 660 ti minimum. But would probably go for a 680. Quality 600w minimum power supply, more if you go for 2 cards. Games at the moment don't use hyper threading so you'll get little performance benefit with an i7. But in 2years time who knows.

Lambourne, This is the kind of beast you need. Watch out for the energy draw though.

I have been fine with air cooling solutions. A good rated after market air cooling solution should be fine for the CPU. Intel has cooled down the CPU output over the last five years. For the last CPU, I used the stock fan without issue.

Lol. Wanna fight over who gets to build Lambourne's computer? The only thing I got from your post is that you're old. I'm not old, I just started early. Fans will definatly do the job. I would only go for liquid cooling if I needed it to be quiet. Looks like you have a pretty good handle on the rest of it.

Two issues with cooling using fans.
Noise. Although, fans have gotten a lo quieter than they used to be.
Dust. It is a good idea to periodically take the compressed air to the insides of your computer. If you waht too long, you will start having overheating problems.
