Do you guys like Project Reality?

I haven't downloaded PR yet,I'm really not interested in learning a new game.I prefer BF I feel pressured to get PR .Me personally I don't get into the "real" part of video games.I play to vent off stress and have fun, I've done it for real.Hope you all enjoy playing PR I'm going to work on my BF2 for now.Maybe I'll reconsider at a later time.

Good thread.
Well I am a PR convert so I really enjoyed it. I havn't played on it alot so scrivs "training" speech was helpfull.
I did enjoy playing on it but our team was a bit mad! One person was all about defence while the other was going on about attacking and then they swapped over and one was charging in while the other was going on about defense. But other than that I had a great time.
Only down side was we needed Scriv and Ares on our team. Scriv does make a good Squad Leader. Not that you don't Lofty, you are just better in the fighting. Scriv is in the army in real life so he has the skills to lead.

Dont feel pressured psyco!
Its a good game but like you say, its better to get used to BF2 first and then move to PR when your tired of it.
The "real part" of PR that I enjoy is you dont get idiots bunny hopping around, nor do you get annoying brunos running around with knives. But you do get cool equipment like binoculars and landmines and the maps are 2KM Sq. I feel it takes away the fast pace of BF2 and replaces it with a much slower pace. But at the same time it increases the stress of playing because dieing is far more annoying in PR than BF2, so you really do not want to die. Finally what it does that I love is makes you fight as a team. I think this is why a number do not like it. You cannot just run in as a lone wolf, you will just die. Because of this more mature players play on it, and by mature players I dont mean age but I mean those with patience and good communication.
I prefer it to BF2 but that is my opinion and I understand many not liking it.

I think what really got me was when Angry was up on the roof-top with me trying to spot the shooters in the complex next to me, and I had a ping of 200+ (not internet, mind you, it was my rig seizing up on me). I would take shots at the guy and just hope that he hadn't moved in the last 5 seconds. By the time I noticed Angry next to me with his binos, he was dead and I was hit. Managed to take out 2 with headshots (no getting up for them), and then the entire game crashed on me. This week, friends, I will never complain about computing or technical difficulties again.
Unfortunate that Angry had to lose his life over my problems, lol.
Awesome game, kudos to the PR team.

Yeah that wa a great bit milk, I spotted for you and everyone I spotted was dead next time I looked. Some great shooting even with lag! In fact that was my highlight, right up to the point I took a bullet to the head.

Whenever i have played PR i hardly ever shot my gun! Which i think is quite boring to say the least! I play bf2 to 'fight' not just sit there and stare at the flowers and observe the wild-life! That is just my opinion!

I have been playing Project Reality (PR) for about a month and I'm a big fan.
I've done some recent bouncing between the BF2 and PR games and here are some likes and dislikes:
Things I do not like about BF2.
- Hitting an enemy twice with an assault rifle or once with a shotgun and the enemy bounces around with no effect from my gun shot wounds and kills me.
- Capoeira (brazilian martial arts dance) movement of an enemy. Which unrealistically allows the enemy to avoid getting hit by an automatic weapon. He would be dead and many would laugh at the ridiculous pre-death dance years later in the Pub.
Things I do like about PR.
- The short load time of the game and the quick server browsing
- Most players have a microphone
- There is a greater likelihood of squad members staying and fighting together. The built in programing requires two squad members to be with the Squad Leader (SL) to establish a rally point. It takes 3 team mates to change a control point.
- When there are rounds (bullets) impacting around an opposing player, there is an effect on the his ability to fire back.
- When a player gets hit, he does not know which direction he was hit from. There is not a hit indicator.
- A dismounted Anti-air kit
- Aircraft take less damage to be shot down
- The built in compass
- The Squad Leader designated Rally Points that are destructable
- Building firebases
- The lack of the auto-reload
- Bigger maps with thicker, taller, and more widespread vegetation and more contour to the terrain
Don't like about PR
- Stepping off a 6 - 10 foot boulder and requiring a medic
- The accuracy of all of the weapons. Calm, in the prone, stationary, well aimed shots may register a hit after three shots. I haven't figure a technique to solve this issue. Maybe, it can't be solved by the player and has to be resolved by the programmers.
- The sight picture and accuracy of the insurgent weapons is really bad. Just give them all rocks then they can do more damage.
- Not being able to hit anything, even at close range, when not aiming
- The delay for the map to appear after pushing the map button.
- The auto-reload has to be manually switched back on when going back to BF2
- The "One Minute Bug". The shortened window of time prior to the match starting disrupts the initial coordinations
Not sure if I like. Need more time with in PR.
- The delay to aim the weapon
- The delay for the mounted (on vehicle) weapons to unlock
- Damaged vehicles dragging on one side
- The forced sequence of the objectives
- Fire bases: 400 meter away from each other and a maximum of 4
Recommended additions to PR
- Be able to use the shovel to dig hasty fighting positions (foxhole) in the dirt
- More emphasis on planning which could include adding an effective visual means for a commander to communicate his plan to the squad leaders before the match starts. Some kind of overlay tool so the commander can show the squad leaders where to build firebases.
- Have a colored shadow of a fire base, heavy machine guns, etc.. outline of where it will appear before the asset is deployed. It would assist in proper placement and warn squad members to get out of the way.
- Adding a Stats/Awards PR hosted server
- Have a clan Win / Lose stats PR hosted server
- Have separate toggled indicators for the language used and the function of a squad. Or, the text box could be expanded to accomadate a longer title for "Custom" squads.
- Dual-monitor support
Identified weakness of the PR gaming population
- Communicating critical information to fellow squad members upon making enemy contact
- Poor "kit" coordination before the match starts
- The lack of a commander on the team. Not many players seem interested in the commander position.
- Not many players want to be an engineer. Engineers are needed for repairing vehicles.
- Many players need to improve their Squad leading skills. Coordinate the kit selections. Squads need at least one medic. Tell the squad what they are going to be doing. Paint the picture of what is going on for the whole team and enemy information upon contact. Tell squad members what to do and ask them questions. Get your squad members to talk to each other.
Overall, an improvement on BF2 which is very hard to pull off.
