Problems INSTALLING Project Reality

I think I had a thread about troubles updating PR (Battlefield 2 modification, not ArmA 2) from 0957 to 0966 on the new forum, but it's not working, not the new forum nor even installing PR!

I decided to give up on trying to patch PR from one version to another, and uninstall PR. I searched everywhere, but there was no uninstaller.exe, and PR doesn't show up on the "Add or remove programs" utility. Finally I found out that I should just delete the PR directory from C:\Program files\EA games\Battlefield 2, and I did.

But here's the problem: When I double-click on the PR 0.973 full part 1 of 3 installer, and I press next, accept the terms and select the directory in which BF2 is, a message pops out saying "Battlefield v1.5 has not been installed. Please make sure you have installed Battlefield 2 v1.41, then Battlefield 2 v1.5 before installing Project: Reality BF2"

As you might know, to be able to play BF2 online, you have to have v1.41 and v1.5 installed. And you have to have v.1.41 and v1.5 installed to even install, not to mention being able to play, Forgotten Hope 2 (2.3 and 2.4) or Project Reality 0957. I have had both installed, and both worked perfectly. I have checked the version number from the Battlefield 2 menu screen. I am 100 % sure I do have those patches installed.

So, any ideas? Has anyone else had the same problem? I think I had exactly the same error message when I tried to patch PR 0957 to 0966.
Just please don't say I would have to uninstall BF2 and install it again to get it working... Installing BF2, patching it and installing Special Forces (which doesn't even work online) is something I would not want to do ever again, for any reason. Unless it was the only way to get Forgotten Hope working...

It is a long time since I played BF2/PR, but I know PR caused a lot of problems (for me), including 'blue screen' with vanilla BF2.

What I had to do was a 'complete manual uninstall' which involves deleting associated registry.
I copied the process on the new forum but here is the link:

Before taking drastic action like this, I would wait to see if some other guys have a solution.

I just don't know if this is safe and is my computer 32-bit or 64-bit. I'm using XP.
I really hope the soultion is this simple(?).

To find out if you are on 32 or 64 try the following:

Start
All programs
Accessories
Run

Then type dxdiag and click OK

On the system tag it will give you your operating system details.
There might be a simpler way, but I hope this helps.

Good luck pershainovitsh I hope it works for you. I really love PR but it does cause so many pc issues. Got a new pc now ready for BF3. To be honest have worked through a number of problems since the new build and things are finally looking promising with bfbc2 and bf3beta. I dare not reload bf2/PR at present due to the numerous previous hours trying to get the system working at that time.

I do not have anything to add to assist in the trouble shooting. It can be so frustrating. Those kind of issues drive people to consoles.

I'm not the kind of a person who runs cowardly to the consoles as soon as a problem arises. Us Finns have this thing called "sisu". It means persistance. We have a saying, "A Finnish man will go even through a grey rock".

But anyway, I found out that my XP is the 32-bit version, downloaded the utility and used it. Then I succesfully intalled Project Reality 0.973, and at least the single player works without a problem. If someone is interested, I could play for a while at 1900 UTC and onwards.
