Must have freeware tool: joy2key (mapping POV-hat to mouse-look around thingypit, commo rose, etc.)

There are some other maneuvers I've picked up in game, but I don't have gifs and can't explain them very well, but that should do anyway. In any case, I'd be very interested in picking up a wingmate or two to practice regularly, as vehicles are our down-side, and also the most fun when you can use them properly.

So there was interest about how I set up my joystick.. I'll just do this quick:



1: Primary Fire
2: Alternate Fire
3: Switch Alt. Weapons
4: Comm Rose (For spotting)
5: Cockpit view
6: Flyby View
7: Mouse Look (JoyToKey)
8: Rear view
9: Teamspeak VOIP (JoyToKey)
10: BF2 VOIP
11: Flares
12: Afterburner
POV: Mouse Look (JoyToKey)

My JoyToKey setup isn't ridiculously complicated.. Basically, the POV hat has mouse features (push it forward, mouse increases vertically as if you pushed your mouse forward). I just set Mouse Vertical: 100 for forward, -100 for back, etc. for sides. In combination with button 7, this lets me look around my cockpit in mouselook view. Teamspeak VOIP is just setting button 9 to "T" which is my Teamspeak button in any case. For spotting, button 1 is also Primary Mouse in JoyToKey, so when I hit button 4, I just pull the trigger to select Spotted instead of going for my mouse.

Anyway, this all changes pretty quickly. The last major changes were discovering a complete ignorance of the throttle (you shouldn't be slowing down anyway, so just leave it at full), which freed up the 4 higher buttons for my left hand. Also, I switched mouse look off the top 4 button around the POV hat so I didn't have to try moving my thumb in ways it shouldn't. Either way, your joystick is probably entirely different, so this is just for your knowledge.

Obv. we're made to be wingmen. Hopefully you'll be the one able to shoot/fly, because I've mastered the art of "baiting."

Ive mastered the art of getting shot down!! thats why i need the practice, it will be great to have a flying partner!! Any one else is welcome also (Tues 7EST) or though i will have to see how i get on with this time as that would be midnight here so i may need it be be slightly earlier Milk if this i possible? I could do 6:30 and play till 7:30 EST?

I barely got on at 7 last time--I work until then on Tuesdays. If you have another day you'd prefer we can definitely figure out something else, just catch me on xfire or somesuch.
