There are many situations in which it is best to knife someone.
This is a Guide to encourage and improve the art and science of knifing:

This is a Guide to encourage and improve the art and science of knifing:
- There are many times you will see the oblivious solo enemy perhaps wrench repairing a tank or command asset. Or, you may even see an enemy soldier using a sparrow missile emplacement looking for a helicopter or jet to shoot down. You can shoot these people from a distance to avoid running a duration of 10 or 15 seconds, but this is a time where your knife is screaming for blood.
- At times, enemy players run past your concealed position and continue on, unaware of your presence. A bullet will get you two points, but a knife kill gets you the same points and a greater sense of accomplishment. Most of them make it easy for you and run in a straight line, stop, and then lie down to fire at some distant target.
- Ever come around a corner to find two or more enemy facing away from you? Nothing can be more impressive than sticking two or three people in under three seconds in front of witnesses.
- As you well know, snipers love to go up ladders and lay claymores to booby trap the entrance to their devilish perch. On a Special Force Expansion Pack map, use the grappling hook (AntiTank or Assault) to get around their trap and let them try and figure out how you got up, snuck in behind them, and stuck'em.
- Watch for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) detections in the Heads Up Display (HUD) in the top right corner of your display, keep situational awareness of where the little red dots positioned, where they are going, and if they are stationary. Don't be afraid to request a UAV. You need to be a Squad Leader (SL) to do make a request to the Commander (The default key is "T" to get to the SL commo rose to request Commander assets).
- If you are looking to attain your basic knife badge (7 kills in one match), you want to go to areas with dense enemy activity and close combat quarters (urban map near a high traffic area). You do not want to be in the middle of the meat grinding fire fight. It is prefered to approach from behind. You may want to hitch a ride in a chopper passing over the main battle area and deep into enemy territory, or possibly grab a boat or fast attack vehicle and take the long way around to get into areas where you are not expected, your enemy has dropped his guard, and he feels safe from harm.
- If you know you are entering a room with a high chance of having enemy troops in it, toss in a flashbang (comes with Assault kit), quickly move in (the blinding light lasts for 10 to 15 seconds), and get to stabbing.
- If there is plenty of foliage cover, be a Sniper with the ghillie suit and use the cover to sneak up and kill your targets. If there is no cover and you are taking fire at odd times, use the Support or Assault kits as you will have some body armor.
- There comes a time when you try to knife someone and he runs out of ammo while trying to shoot you. Also, he may realize you are trying for a knife kill and offer you mano y mano combat. If he also pulls out his knife then you have some choices to make as to whether or not you just shoot him.
- Unranked servers that are pistol/knife I don't have an issue with. Ranked servers that are pistol/knife are against the Rules of Engagement set up by Electronic Arts. Play on them and possibly have your stats wiped. So, please don't do it.
