- Stay back and stay alive to act as a mobile spawning point.
- Direct spawning locations for squad members.
- Command and control the squad. Keep people together. Communicate the next objective to the squad. Guide squad members toward tanks and APCs.
- Talk to the Team Commander and your squad memebers
- Request Artillery, UAVs, Resupply crates, and Vehicle Drops. Use the big map screen and right click on the map to request the desired asset or use your squad leader commo rose.
- Task organize your squad member kits to be mutually supporting
- Carry a kit that keeps your squad's momentum. Medic and Support are good choices.

I agree with all the above, but i'd just like to highlight the importance of the first point:
Basically, there is no point in being the Squad Leader (SL) if you going to fly Helli or plane. I was recently on a squad where the SL was in a plane the whole time. It was unbelievably frustrating seeing that big red spawn point flying all over the map and not being able to spawn on him!
Scriv and I played together last night and both of us took turns being Squad leader, but I felt he was much more effective as leader simply because of his playing style. He didn't just charge into a situation like I did, so I was always able to spawn on him. On the other hand when I was squad leader, I was fighting aggresively and dead most of the time, so there was no spawn point for scriv. It worked very good with him as leader and me charging into certain death.
Playing style is important! I would bet that on most games we likely have scored a similar number of points, but I will have died at least twice as much, simply because thats my style and it works for me.
Next time, I'll make sure scriv is Squad leader, it's the job he was born for!

Thanks, for the flattering remarks.
I must say the expectations of being a Squad Leader (SL) in the BF2 game are far different than in real-life. A real-world team leader's position during movement is at the front of the fire team (4-6 soldiers). The SL is close to the front of the formation during tactical movement. During contact with enemy forces, the SL leads the squad (9-13 soldiers). He moves between fire teams and is the aggressive spirit of the squad.
In BF2, the role of squad leader is more like a real-world platoon leader or company commander. He is the close-in tactician who needs to stay alive to provide support and momentum one-layer back.

The best squad leader in my view is scriv, he is a naturally born leader that knows what to do in every situation and knows waht to say. He has a lot to say, sometimes too much haha.
Nonetheless he is a great commander and squad leader. LONG LIVE SCRIV!!!!!

That is true, he does like to boss people around, thats why you have to bring him down to earth and smack him around a little bit haha. Especially when he starts talkin pointlessly for hours without end hahaha...Im just playin with ya man, we wouldnt be able to do nufin without ya.
You are a born leader and dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

I completely agree. I find when I play SL I tend to try to actually lead the squad into situations rather than direct others. I think it is important in a squad to have a SL (such as scriv) who can stay alive to spawn on while directing the squad, and another people designated to act as someone that can run in an play agressively and "be the first one through the door"(such as angry). This would allow other squad members to help concentrate on performing their roles, without having to wait on the SL to head in and risk your spawn point.
ALL HAIL SCRIV!!!
