Opening Up The DayZ Whitelisted Server To The Public For Weekend!
Of course we will back it up prior!
We have decided to open up the whitelisted server for the weekend and evenings that admins are on to monitor it.
It's no secret that most of us have been yearning for those epic moments of yore, but due to inactivity on the server of late they have been few and far between. We want to change all that and come up with a better way of getting people on the server and staying on the server. We think that when they see what we have and and caliber of players that we have, they will surely want in and get whitelisted.
The plan here is to get more trusted people whitelisted and then run the whitelist again.
We are going to need some admins that can help out on the server with possible banning and letting the new players that join know the rules. We KNOW that there will be some asshats that join and that is the reason we will be backed up too. I think this will work so why not give it a shot?

I understand the dilemma, but I am pretty sure this is a bad idea.
Shrivel up and die on the vine --- Versus --- Opening the flood gates to a tidal wave of Hackers and aggravation.
I clearly remember the multiple server restarts to deal with the hackers. I really do not want to go through that again. The =SWF= Spartan War Fighters need a DayZ home and we picked the PCGN server. We have continued to play on other servers with greater player numbers to get the action or a needed change, but it really does not matter on the other servers if we die, loose the contents of a discovered tent, or get a vehicle stolen. It is different on the PCGN server. A lot of capability has been achieved through many hours of hard work.
On top of all of that, there is our merchant center and the other groups of folks who comprise the great PCGN community of players. We, absolutely, need to grow our PCGN server participation. Either way, there is work required by many for server participation to continue to be healthy. I vote to NOT open the flood gates.
Based on my experience, the PCGN server community is very much like growing a Clan. Pick each and every quality brick to build a strong wall and discard the defective bricks. We need to attract quality folks to a quality community.
1) The best tool at our disposal are the current participants using the power of word of mouth.
2) Organize and advertise events that others will want to participate in.
3) Recruit other DayZ and ArmA players.
4) Make a quality edited video about the attributes of the PCGN server and, especially, the community of players.
