I've been using Stingers a lot recently and they are more effective than I first thought. These are my tactics: Little Bird - once locked wait a few seconds for the pilot to panic release flares, if this happens re-acquire lock and fire, then immediately reload and fire again. You can reload and fire faster than flares, two hits will destroy a helicopter, I think one hit is about 70-80% damage. Attack helicopter with gunner - its highly likely the gunner is going to fire first so as above keep the lock and wait for his flares to drop away before firing. If the pilot uses ECM then just relock and fire. If your unlucky the gunners flares might now be ready again. But the important thing is that your keeping them under pressure, most pilots will back away when they're constantly being locked. Also you might not be the only person using stingers and one of you is highly likely to get the kill. The locking range was reduced in the last patch but it's not to much of problem, missiles once released will continue to pursue their target even out of locking range. The pilot can break a missile lock by flying at low level, but this then leaves them vulnerable to tanks and RPG. I really like using them on my current favourite map Kharg Island, but the wooded areas and structures of Caspian and Firestorm can make it difficult to achieve a lock. As for jets don't even bother trying

Thanks BTTF good tips. I have struggled with the stinger. However have noticed that as you say even locking onto targets causes heli's to back off. Is a very good way to stop air dominance.

A hand-held anti-air system was needed. It is good to see the system is becoming more effective.
