Check out these articles. I'm not sure about it myself, I'm waiting to see how things play out. But that doesn't mean I don't plan on watching gameplay videos extensively, and should those videos impress me I will likely buy it, and play both. But the 'promise' of larger maps, and maps designed for a zombie survival game could definitely make things more interesting. Also I like the idea of a safe-zone, and the ability to buy, sell, and trade. As well as going on quests. However, having levels, skill trees, and level-specific gear would NOT be something I would enjoy, because then it would just feel like a regular MMO, and I no longer find those fun. Lets discuss this: check out the articles. I guess I share Rocket's skepticism about this effort. Anything, that takes away the realism is not an improvement, in my opinion. A safe zone, might be an interesting addition if attention is paid to realism. For instance, the idea of a safe zone would insinuate some sort of cooperation among survivors. Assuming that it would entail a barricaded area to prevent zombies from entering, what would prevent another survivor from murdering you inside the enclosure? I hope nothing, because that would be unrealistic. Buying things would be unrealistic because currency has no real value and trading is already allowed. Just because player levels and kit levels are used in other video games doesn't mean they're appropriate here. The beauty of DayZ is that things have to occur organically. It takes time and patience (and luck) to build your player's kit. Rocket has built a highly popular game largely because he has avoided the usual gamer modes and gimmicks. I'm glad to hear of his level of commitment to it.

I agree. I feel that any type of buying/selling/auction system would be pointless, except for the ability to find the ammo you need, but as McGuirk said, that would take away from the realism of having to go find it for yourself (or risk getting betrayed to trade for it). I do like the idea of a safe-zone for storage and trading, but you could really only pull it off by not allowing anyone to fire weapons inside of it, and the zombies would be kept out by some sort of barricade. It would be nice if you weren't able to get in unless you were zombie-free, because the people inside would not want to risk the infected getting inside and endangering everything they have built to create said safe-zone (it's more of a story-telling reason, could apply if there were NPCs there, 'watching' the gate).
Also, in response to your question about murders in the enclosure(s)... the NPCs mentioned before could also act as guards, that should you shoot someone while inside their reaction radius, they would then converge on you and kill you (or the game engine, having been programmed with this safe-zone, would kill you for murder... capital punishment). That would deter (but not make impossible) people from killing other players within the safe-zone.
I also agree completely that the reason this game has gotten so popular so quickly with no paid advertising is because it is unlike most games out there. It is not dumbed down, it does not have difficulty sliders or any 'less difficult' areas, or tutorial areas. I don't feel like a two year old while I play it, slowly being taught each and every thing... I don't feel like I'm being talked down to, you know what I mean?

I think WarZ copied DayZ and should be required to had over the profits and pay a penalty to DayZ. I will not be purchasing WarZ. I think you are making a mistake and supporting frauds if you buy WarZ.
If you do end up buying it, I would like to hear the differences.
