This is collection of some of the Greatest Moments in =SWF= History. These moments have risen above many other great moments to be choosen as being worthy of being in the =SWF= News section. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spartan, Taz, Lambourne, & Scriv with their first and new drivable busCooking SteaksWood needs to be in the front inventory of your gear. Not on the ground or in your backpack. You needed: - a weapon to kill the animal. - A knife to slaughter the animal. - Space to store the raw meat. - A hatchet to cut some wood. - Matches to create a fire.

Wow! What a roller coaster ride. McGuirk and I were doing real well. We went to the Zub castle and found no zombies. We heard multiple gun shots and manuevered down to the houses with a water well. As we snuck around, I found the source of the shooting barracaded in the big red house. Shot her as she was looking out the other side of the house. Neither one of us had a tool box and we could not get into the structure due to the wire obstacles.
Then McGuirk and I went to the same barn where Taz was killed. As I was moving for the barn, I ran right in front of the guy and got the jump on him. He was 12 feet away in the prone, and looking at me. Clicked my right mouse button 3 times and could not get the AK-47 to aim. He shot me. I was able to tell McGuirk were the guy was located, but McGuirk was killed as well.
That guy just laying there in the prone waiting for other human players and some of the videos I have watched, I am amazed how patient and deliberate ArmA players are compared to Battlefield players. As McGuirk said, We went into the area with our guard down. We should have swept the area from back to front or side to side and should have been spread out more.
I spawned in near Cap Golova and went back to where McGuirk and I were killed and found a soda. Taz and I linked up at the tip of a crossbow bolt at the barn north of Vysota hill. Hit the Zub castle again. Linked up with Spartan near the barns Southeast of Novy Sobor. Got a lot of goodies, but Taz got hit hard by the zombies near the barn. We put all of our food in him and ran him across the map to the grocery store at Polana. Got food for Taz, but Taz shot me when he was trying to pull the three cans of food out.
Lambourne linked up with Taz and Spartan and split my gear. They will have to tell you about the medical facility infiltration. Spartan and Lambourne went into Zombie central.
Spawned in new again West of Balota airfield. Unarmed and nothing to lose, I checked out the control tower and side industrial building. Then found an hatchet and checked a hanger. Armed with just a hatchet went snooping into the military compound between the airstrip and the coast. Two deer stands were empty and all the tents seemed to be empty.
Ran to the very same barn McGuirk and I got killed. Found an empty shot gun on a dead guy on the third floor. Got to the bottom floor was checking for more loot. Then two guys came in the door to search the other side of the barn. I remembered I had picked up shot gun shells at the airfield and had to quickly move the shot gun shells from my backpack. Moved them, hoped they were the right ones, had two rounds, loaded and shot the first guy as he was on the top of the first set of stairs. Definately hit him. Turn to shot the next guy was at the base of the stairs. At some point, I received return fire and got it. Stayed behind the boxes and bandaged myself. Zombies were all over. Found some more shot gun shells.
Ran out the barn with one zombie in tow. Shot him and went back to the barn to check the bodies. I looked and only had one murder. Maybe, the zombies got the credit for the other guy. Checked the body of the guy at the base of the stairs took his winchester & bandages. Went just outside the barn and heard a vehicle. It was about 400 meters away having a hard time driving.
Not sure if he saw me, but either way ran into the trees to avoid getting run over. With encouragement from other Spartans, I manuevered in closer in the trees and the bus was getting closer. He was having a hard time driving cross country, up hill, and between the trees. I do not think he saw me. At 70 meters, I put two rounds into the driver's compartment. The other Spartans up by Berezino saw the guy's screen name as killed on the bottom left corner of the screen.
Moved in to assess the bus. The dead guy was laying to the front right on the ground. Then there was another guy who was behind the bus. Shots were exchanged. He ran out of ammo. I could hear the clicking of his weapon with its empty chamber. He ran to the bus driver seat of the bus and tried to drive away. I shot him. He exited and I shot him again. I put a bullet in each guys head to make sure they were dead. Switched to a Large Alice (20 slots) and a Lee Enfield in exchange for my basic issue 8 slot pack and my very recently acquired winchester.
Drove the bus to meet up with Lambourne, Taz, and Spartan. All of us where full of items and on top of the world. We each had a canteen, a blood bag, epi-pen, morphine injector, etc... AND A BUS!! I lost my rifle trying to put fuel in the vehicle at a quasi-gas station. I dropped it to make room for a Jerry can for fuel and the rifle and all ammo disappeared. I recommend dropping pain medicine and sodas to make room for stuff as I have yet to have them disappear. That is the second time I have lost a rifle by dropping it on the ground. It just disappears.
As we were driving by, a cow was out in the field and Spartan killed it. We cached the bus. Cooked some steak. The the tide of fate turned. Taz full of life after his long-term fainting spells stood on top of a big boulder to soak in the fresh air and the view. Pop ... Broke a bone and died.
Spartan was able to get a couple items out of Taz's backpack, so I recklessly went for Taz's rifle. Crack!! Broken bone! Seconds later ... dead. Do NOT climb on rocks, especially the big ones.
Then there were only two fully armed Spartans, when just moments ago there were four full-health combat ready warriors.
Fortune swings quickly. Tough break. Or, should I says breaks.

Operation Red Cross/Blue Shield - The Berezino Suburb Medical infiltration and extraction.
Background Information: First off Berezino is split into 2 spread out areas, there is the main town of Berezino or as I call it Berezino Suburbs which is where we infiltrated and then there is Berezino Harbor which is the industrial center for the area. Berezino is the 3rd largest city and is the largest by area coverage here is the list of the top 3 citys in order.
1. Chernogorsk (Capitol City) 2. Elektrozavodsk 3. Berezino (including Berezino Harbor)
Its is still debated whether Berezino including its Harbor is larger than Elektro, but going by what most people think this the list.
Even though Berezino is the 3rd largest city in the game, getting into the DEAD CENTER of it without firing a single shot or getting detected once with 2 people is very very very challenging. The only reason why I know how to sneak so well in this game is due in part to how much time I have spent running Special Operations teams in ArmA II + Arrowhead on =7CAV= and =TAW= where I have infiltrated towns with Spetznaz and T-90's which have night and thermal vision as well as impressive firepower and accuracy, so zombies are a bit "stupid" in my book.
The Infiltration: Objective Blue Shield Spartan (Myself), Lambourne, and Taz were in pretty decent shape aside from Taz's medical condition which is why we decided to go to the Berezino Suburb's hospital to get supplies and get him back up 100% as eating the basic food only gives you 200 blood per unit and Taz was at around 1,100 of 12,000 units of blood, and was pretty close to death. He would also pass out at random times which made him a major liability, but we stand by our Spartan Credos -"Spartans never leave another Spartan behind." Letting Taz die was simply NOT AN OPTION. We all had made it to the outskirts of the Berezino Suburbs (grid 116-065), Taz was to remain in the wood-line due to his medical condition as well as provide visual security and a rally point, he still played a very important role even though he could not go in with us.
It was just up to Lambourne and I to get the supplies. We started by running towards the ASR (Auxiliary Supply Road) at grid 118-063, but ran immediately into 3 hoppers and 3 walkers that were impeding our progress. This is where all my Spec Ops experience kicked in as I maneuvered within 20 meters of a walker who had his back turned to us and sneaked around the other zombies without incident. This part was a little stressful, but with lots of open ground and an easy retreat if needed. It was not too bad. At this point, we finally made it near my first objective point (OP) the crossroads, guarding it were 2 visible walkers. So, I opted to use the sloping hill and other buildings near the hospital to our advantage.
Before I crested the sloping hill near our first OP, I was thinking, if there were zombies on the other side of that downgrade, we can expect things to get really tricky. And, possibly nasty; very, very, very, very, fast. My fears came true. Cresting the hill there were 3 zombies (2 hoppers and a walker), plus the other 2 walkers at our first OP that were 35 meters away. We were utterly surrounded. Using a noise or visual distraction device (tin cans and road flares) would have attracted the zombies attention no matter where they were thrown, right to us.
So with careful and quick planning, I got Lambourne to stay about 3 meters away from me reducing our profile. Again, I used a dumb walker zombie with his back turned to us as a way to get some distance between the other 3 zombies. Thankfully, it worked.
With this latest success, we were on the fast track to our main objective (Objective Blue Shield). While we were sneaking in the crouched position, we reached the medical facility without incident. One problem remained. We could not get into the building as all it had was glass windows and the only thing that I know would break that glass would be a bullet. Discharing a weapon in this town would result in LOTS OF ZOMBIES running to our position. We decided not to shoot, but scout to see if there were any other entrances. We found a gate leading to some military tents behind the hospital. There was nothing, but body bags and dead soldiers which can not be looted.
Lambourne decided to check out the roof. While doing so, I found some supplies hidden just beneath the ladder he was climbing in a refuse pile. We got a Blood Bag (used for administering a transfusion that gives you 9000 blood) and an Epi-Pen (used for reviving someone that is unconscious). Meanwhile, Lambourne hits the jackpot, a medical box. This is the holy grail of medical supplies. It has EVERYTHING! We got 9 Blood bags, Antibiotics, Epi-Pens, Morphine Auto-Injectors, and bandages. We were now in awesome shape. We were on the fast track to becoming a major power for the first time in =SWF= DayZ history!
By the way during this entire infiltration, the only voice that was heard was myself and I was giving mission critical info and commands to enure our stealthy survival, the tension was very high.
The Extraction: Objective Red Cross After getting all the loot situated, Lambourne and I talked freely and calmed down our nerves and celebrated a bit telling Taz he would have to worry no more. I said "Lambourne, am I not bad ass at sneaking or what, damn I am good", Lamboure replied with "Spartan, if you can get us out of here in one piece I will agree with that." And with that conversation, he not only set the bar. but raised it.
Getting in is one thing, getting out alive is clever. I had my work cut out for me. We had great sight lines and could survey the area for the best tactical approach. It was my plan to ex-filtrate using the narrow ally-ways that lead out into an open field. If detected, we could run freely to escape and engage targets on our own terms.
The plan was set. The team ready to move when Lambourne accidentally discharged his Winchester 1866 .44 Magnum rifle while moving gear around. This definitely pissed off the local populace. 5 Zombies closed in on our position within a single minute. Mind you, zombies can open doors and climb ladders and we were cornered on a roof top. Quickly, I remembered having road flares with me taht can be used as a distraction device. I had dropped them earlier for a Morphine Auto-Injector. I made great haste and found them throwing one of the 10 road flares that comes with the pack out behind the building near where Lambourne had discharged his 1866 Winchester.
This distraction seemed to work as all 5 zombies converged on the road flare and forgot about the gunshot as well as our possible existence. This also created a problem. They were huddled in the corner right next to the ladder we had climbed to get the supplies.
Lambourne and I found another ladder opposite the one we climbed and it turned out to be part of our saving grace. As we climbed down, we realized those 5 zombies will see us entering the ally-way. That's not good for us, at all.
I threw 3 more road flares to distract them after fouling my first throw. The first flare would have attracted the zombies closer to our postion. My next 2 throws were perfect and gave us the break we needed.
We sneaked our way into the ally-ways of Berezino's Suburbs and were making decent progress. As I rounded a corner, there was a hopper 15 meters in front of me coming right toward us. I quickly issued a fall back order quietly. We moved toward an open archway leading out to an MSR (Main Supply Route). I threw another road flare to distract a hopper; it worked.
The MSR was surprisingly clear and we made our way with decent speed and stealth towards the open fields. Just as we reach the open fields 3 hoppers and 4 walkers were upon us, we were still hidden, but those zombies seemed moving in a search pattern. This is where Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell) would have been proud. I threw my last 2 road flares out onto the MSR to our right which took 2 of the zombies away from us.
I then quickly made the decision to quietly maneuver over a low fence leading into a walled back yard as the first walker came within 8-10 meters of our position. I pressed forward to another low fence and quietly got over it taking us near a loot point. We decided, since we were full of inventory and collecting loot was not mission critical, that we would bypass it. This decision payed off as 2 other walkers converged slowly on the loot position.
Lambourne and I quietly doubled back and ninja'd our way right around them evading all 8 zombies in the area. But. we were not home free yet. Even though our Final Objective (Objective Red Cross) was easily within sight and ear-shot, we still had 2 more hoppers in the field and one was hidden in the bushes. Using the space we had made in the open field, we easily got around the first hopper. The one that was hidden in the bushes came out 20 meters in front of us and was coming right at our position. I had no more road flares. The silence and tension was tighter than strung piano wire. I quickly judged his current course and speed and maneuvered accordingly thus narrowly evading the hopper by just a mere 10 meters.
After slowly moving away for another minute, we broke out into a full sprint and made it to Objective Red Cross, where we successfully administered medical aide to Taz. A short bit later after Scriv's exemplary combat success, we all linked up together outside Berezinos Suburbs in a bus. A Great chapter in our Spartan History.
Thanks goes out to: - Lambourne for the tactical aide and excellent teamwork that directly influenced the mission success of Operations Blue Shield and Red Cross
- Taz for providing the scouting cover, as well as, giving us a rally point
- Scriv for his exemplary combat success in acquiring many important items; including a bus for transport.
I also owe Ghost Recon and Al some credit to learning how to sneak. This is exactly the kind of stuff we do in Ghost Recon all the time (minus the zombies, but add in Russians with full combat training and gear).
This series of missions were successful only due to the vast and outstanding teamwork that only =SWF= seems to know how to bring to the fight. Our clan is stronger than ever because of this exemplary show of dedication and perseverance. Job well done!
I hope you have enjoyed this story as much as Lambourne and I have enjoyed living it. .

The mountain climbing with jetpacks in Planetside 2 deserves a mention. It was so spontaneous, so unexpected and so much fun. Not very useful in getting that base captured back, though.
