Of coures it's either me or Spartan who's first to reply to a thread about any Ghost Recon title.
If you have played the first Ghost Recon, how would you compare it to Future Soldier? Are there any similiarities? How open is the map? In GR 1 the whole map was open and you were free to complete the objectives in the order you wished. How about stealth? Can you sneak around before engaging? Are there night missions? Are there night vision goggles? (a true Tom Clancy game has to have night vision goggles)

The map is not open, there are magnetic goggles that detect weapons. And a cloak that makes you invisible as long as you don't shoot or move fast. You can do H2H kills. Read my Amazon review,I am trying to approach this game with a open mind and positive attitude.

I read your review. For some reason at first I didn't understand you had used "Greg" as your name. I guess I thought you were playing American football and were lying under someone named Greg or something... But you reviewed it under the NAME Greg. The game doesn't sound very good to me. I would have liked it to have open levels. But I do like the fact that run 'n' gun isn't a very good option. You complained about camera angles. Is the camera always on the right hand side? This was annoying in Splinter Cell: Conviction. There was no way to get the camera to the left side without placing your back against a wall with the cover mechanic.

Greg is my real name.
The camera seemed to move to much for me. You can switch shoulders if you want. From left to right and you can aim down the sights FYI.
If look at my other reviews you can see how I evolved in my writing. Scriv played a part in proof reading my post. He helped make me a better writer for which I am grateful.
Thank you for reading my review.
I find Amazon a good place to make a informed purchase. I find game magazines very biased.

Al is not my real name, but a nickname and actually just the first two letters of my name. I think I actually did see a thread in the old forums made by you, and frankly it wasn't very readable. But I can see how you've gotten a lot better. You are absolutely right about gaming magazines being biased. Gaming web sites are usually biased as well, especially IGN. Many times I've seen the lates CoD get a 9.0 when a game which is practically a copy of CoD with all its flaws gets a 6.0 or a 7.0. I've read that the magazines will get early access to games before release (increasing sales if it's a hyped game) IF they will give the game a good score like 8.5-9.5. I like Rock paper shotgun for its non-biased reviews, humour and the fact it's for PC players by PC players. www.rockpapershotgun.comWhen they review games, they don't give scores. Otherwise they are just like regular reviews except with more humour than usual. They don't even give a summary or a pros/cons list in the end. You just have to read the whole review to get an image of the game. Everything on RPS is fun to read even if you don't care about the game in question. This quote not so long time ago is a perfect example why I like the site. I'm talking about the third paragraph. www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/12/supernatural-splinter-cell-dark-is-a-vampire-stealth-rpg/There is often a big amount of puns in the comment section. Like when there was an article about a Polish game, there were a lot of puns about polisihing the game. Some of the comments have made me laugh really hard. The commenters are civil and mature. Damnit, I derailed another thread. It's becoming a habit. And it needs to stop.

I"m enjoying this game so far. I do my best not to compare it to the original. As this game is a different animal.

I really think Ubi soft just called this GR for marketing.
They could have started a new franchise IMO.

Ubisoft's recent tradition seemes to be making a game and taking the name for it from an existing franchise that has very little to do with it. Especially the Tom Clancy games: Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, now Ghost Recon. Many publishers do this actually. X-COM, Syndicate and Fallout are only some of the games that are now almost completely different from what they were in the beginning. All of them were isometric games, now first person shooters. I haven't played any of the new ones, and fom the old ones only Fallout. Fallout 3 seems to be a worthy sequel despite the change in view point.
It's all about marketing. An existing name will sell more than an unkonwn one. Some consumers just don't read reviews and buy just because of the name, or maybe they just blindly trust in the devs to make a game similiar to the previous ones. And some people have heard the name and heard the series is good so they just buy the latest installment.

Fallout 3 was the bomb.
I agree on the marketing aspect. I try to make informed purchases or help others to. The last SOCOM game was a example of trusting in the name.

I do have an Xbox 360. I just prefer PC. And the original Ghost Recon.

Got GR FS for the Xbox on the same trip I got BF3 and Arma X. I was really waiting for playing the campaign with 2 players, like in Rainbow Six: Vegas. Or Splinter Cell: Conviction. I've bought all these games just for co-op. But what do you know? You can play the campaign in co-op, but not on split-screen. There is a wave-defense mode called Guerrilla which can be played in split-screen. Things like this make me think what is wrong with Ubisoft. They just can't think rationally or do anything reasonable anymore. There is no technical limit for split-screen co-op (like in BF3) because I can clearly see it's possible and I've played it. There is no limit in the campaign (like scripts or other problematic things) that hampers the ability to play it on co-op, because it can be played on co-op, just throught internet with friends who happen to have an Xbox and GR:FS. There is just no reason why couldn't they include split-screen co-op for the campaign. ...Unless it has something to do with the Kinect support. Apparently you can wave your hands in front of the Kinect sensor and look like an idiot to customize your gear. Maybe, just maybe there is something in the campaign that wouldn't work with two players on the same couch. Like holding your arms in the air as if you were holding a steering wheel and making car engine sounds with your mouth and Kinect seeing all this. With two players it could become difficult. Seriously, this is one game that gets bought so you can play split-screen co-op campaign yet the idiots decide not to include it. The Guerrilla mode isn't a substitute for a co-op campaign. It's decent fun but gets very difficult with only two players after ten waves. (50th wave is the last one) This is the third Tom Clancy game that has a spot feature. For some reason they like it so much they stick to every game. Also this is the third Tom Clancy series that has changed beyond recognition. www.joystiq.com/2012/05/26/ubisoft-addresses-lack-of-split-screen-co-op-in-ghost-recon-fut/

I played multiplayer for the past few weeks and it was ok. Not quite BF3 but had fun pimping out weapons and earning trophies. There is a DLC with 3 new single player missions that require lots of stealth.
