Good flick. It's actually only 19 minutes long.
- It has a BF2142 flavor to it. - Was there 4-man squads in previous Ghost Recon games? - I am not a Ubisoft fan. They have screwed me over many times in the past with their games not functioning. I try to avoid them. Having said that, computer games in general are more likely to function campared to 15 years ago.

They have screwed me over many times in the past with their games not functioning. I try to avoid them. Having said that, computer games in general are more likely to function campared to 15 years ago. There were 6-man squads in the Ghost Recon. If played online, there could be much more, I think the maximum was about 30. Changing from 6-man squads to 4-man squads, an interesting choice. GR 1 only had four classes: rifleman, support, demolitions and sniper. Their equipment is very similiar to the equipment used in BF3, except there is no medic, no reviving, no healing and no giving ammunition. Ubisoft has made some very bad decisions lately, namely destroyed most of their franchises. Another thing is that they have treated PC players really bad. They release the PC versions weeks after the console counterparts, they have evil DRM systems and the games just don't work on PC as well as on consoles. Or that's what I've read, I haven't bought anything new form Ubisoft in years. But that's not a good enough excuse to not install Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and play co-op with me! ;D It's a game from the time when Splinter Cell was Splinter Cell and Ubisoft's games rocked.

The original Ghost Recon is also some of Ubisoft's best work, sadly it was not all Ubisoft but a company what was bought out by them called Red Storm Entertainment which Tom Clancy exclusively owned. Ubisoft over the years really has shot themselves in the foot by destroying many of their once genre defining titles like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six (Vegas and Vegas 2 were fun). However there have been some good games recently like Assassins Creed and Silent Hunter (despite the horrid DRM for Silent Hunter 5).
Ubisoft from press releases has been supposedly undergoing a major "renovation" of its studios and games. Ghost Recon Online is another new approach from Ubisoft and it looks a bit promising, Future Soldier is not bad but its a bit too much "run and gun" for my kind of taste in a GR series. Rainbow Six Patriots as its known now looks to be kind of interesting.
Most games these days are going more for action over tactical gameplay because kids these days want to pop in a disk, grab and gun and blow some shit up almost mindlessly (hence the new DLC for BF3). If Ubisoft is smart they will allow mod tools again for some of their premier games like Rainbow Six, and Ghost Recon where the "older" generation can bring back the realism we want with today's graphics.
Set any child in a game with adults and make it a tactical semi-real/real based game and the adult will own that child 9/10 confrontations and that's due to superior knowledge and more importantly the patience required to play such games effectively (ex. ArmA II).

I liked Far Cry 2 by Ubi soft and the Brothers in Arms games.
I don't think the new GR will do well seems to dumbed down. I hope they do a good job on the next R6 game.
Red Storm made some great games in the day.

Red Storm was really good. There is a gameplay concept video of Rainbow Six: Patriots. It seemed to be more about looking cool than tactical thinking. In it the R6 team tries to stop terrorists who are trying to blow up a bridge. First the R6 team rappels down in a way that looked like running down the side of a building like Spiderman. Then there's some shooting, but also the local police officers are in the way. Dramatically the R6 team doesn't have time to explain anything so they shoot the policemen in the legs to neutralize them. And some more dramatic and linear stuff occurs. It seems they are going the CoD way: a linear FPS with "dramatic" things happening, scripted set pieces and all that stuff. But they say this isn't actual gameplay footage. It's supposed to just demontrate what will the game be like. If it's going to be anything like this, I'm not buying it. I don't get why do the game companies use existing IP's for games that are nothing like their predecessors. Especially Ubisoft. I guess they thought "Hey, we already have one anti-terrorist team game, Rainbow Six. Let's call the new game that. What do you mean the fans won't like it? Who cares, the masses like this kind of gameplay and some may remember the name for belonging to a quality series. It's all about sales." www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE7Sr3rgGS8I was talking about "dramatic" because the dramatic things that happen in games, while may be dramatic, are usually overdone or overused. Like in every CoD level there's something "dramatic" or "cool" happening so that the players won't notice how dull the actual gameplay is.
