Speaking of Simo Häyhä... There's a film being made about Ernest Hemingway and his wife: Hemingway & Gellhart. Cliwe Owen will play Hemingway and Nicole Kidman will play his wife. At one point of her life Gellhart was a correspondent for the American magazine Collier's during WWII. What makes it even more interesting is that she was in Finland during that time and one of the characters in the film is Simo Häyhä, a Finnish sniper, who has often been told to have been the best sniper in the world.

The Coriolis Effect is taken into consideration for sniping AFTER 2000 yards, before that its not important. Longest range kill I believe is now 2600 yards, soon someone will break the 3000 yard kill. Urban sniping is all about concealment and target selection. I am a Sniper/Designated Marksman for the airsoft team that I am a member of, I have taught others in my team how to do some of the so called "impossible" shots I do (ex. Shooting a penny sized target at 400 feet which for an airsoft rifle is like shooting a .338 lapua magnum at a human head at over 1400 yards), also teaching counter sniper operations and concealed movement and fire restriction. Being a sniper is mentally draining, the second you stop thinking you die.

Being a sniper is mentally draining, the second you stop thinking you die. I respectfully disagree with you on the Coriolis effect.Even over 2000 yards you still have a line of sight of your target.Bullet drop, wind will be more of a factor.Than curvature of the earth, even for a 3000+ yard shot the shooter will have line of sight.I know of no one who would attempt a shot without a good line of sight of their target. For Artillery when you are shooting over hills or the horizon yes it is a factor. For the point of argument some do agree with my viewpoint and some agree with Spartans.Shooters can be a stubborn lot with viewpoints FYI. I do agree that in Urban sniping fieldcraft is important. Target selection depends on ROE if one is a Soldier. If one is a insurgent their main goal should be not getting caught/shot.I would only do one shot hit or miss if I was a insurgent sniper. Then change position clean up brass, forensic evidence etc. A soldier or security force does not have to worry about forensics. I'm still playing the game and having fun. Al is being a bad influence on others with the tangents.

Al is being a bad influence on others with the tangents. This is one of those times when having the uppercase i and the lower case L looking exactly the same. (I get it, it's Artificial Intelligence) And this is one of those times when studying too much trigonometry makes you feel stupid. Even after looking at a dictionary didn't help. So... What were the enemies doing? Drawing tangents on circles? Solving tan x -type of equations? Wandering around causing trouble? How? This is the first time in years when I really have no idea what is being said here.

We have gone from discussing a game into Urban sniping and the Coriolis effect in relation to long distance rifle shooting.

Oh, so it was directed at me after all. You were talking about the game in the previous sentence so I assumed you had to be taking about the artificial intelligence in the next.
So it's like derailing a thread but not in such a bad way as usual.

I wanted to add that air soft is a good way to practice marksmanship. If one lives where firearm freedoms are restricted.
What is the max range of a air soft rifle Spartan? I know some of the Adult air rifles can go out to 50 to 100 yards.

Just watched the Hitler video good shot. The developer got one thing wrong.
Hitler had only one testicle (historical fact).

Maybe the developers didn't know that. Or maybe they did and you are actually shooting one of Hitler's doubles? That way it's not coflicting with history and how Hitler actually shot himself in a bunker with his wife who took cyanide.
Now we have gone from discussing a game about sniping to Hitler's testicle. And we're still on the subject somehow.

One complaint I do have. The developers should have stuck with first aid kits like the first game. Instead of hide and heal it would teach players better use of resources and to keep their head down.
What fun is a sniper game if you soak up bullets like a Scotsman soaks up beer?

I tried the demo. Went on the hardest difficulty setting right from the start as it was the most realistic one. It took me about half an hour to beat the level. (I didn't watch the time so it's just an estimation) Taking wind and bullet drop into account was surprisingly easy, though I didn't hit the exact spot I wanted to most of the time. Still made lethal shots.
I've got the same complaint Psyco got. As the modern trend goes, sit behind a corner for a while and you'll heal like some Canadian mutant and really fast even on the hardest difficulty level. I did die a couple of times thanks to some enemies surprising me with MP40's, but most of the time I was really soaking up bullets like bullet sponge. At the end of the demo level I probably had about 20 bullets in me. A medkit system would've created A LOT more tension and realism.
I completed the demo a few times again to experiment. The subsequent playthroughs were a lot faster because I knew where most enemies would be. (I think some appeared and disappeared randomly) To my joyful surprise you can rig up your own explosives along with the ones you have to put on the route of a convoy and then shoot them instead. It proved to be much more efficient.
All in all, I think it was fun but a bit too easy, mostly due to regenerating health. I guess I could get the game though, especially if someone else has it so we could play co-op.

I found Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 to be a better game. You really need fieldcraft and stealth.Cry engine graphics are nicely done. It is linear but you can move around enemies. It is nice you only get 2 med packs. Campaign was short but fun.
