During Saturday's Arma2 event, Spartan starting playing around with creating simple missions that we could participate in as a standalone squad without having to deal with other people on the server. This involves using the built-in mission editor, and I feel this has enormous potential for us. I plan on looking into learning the mission editor in the future and perhaps developing some scenarios for us. In the meantime, there are sites that list user created missions that are available for download. Here is one example: www.armaholic.com/list.php?c=arma2_files_scenarios_mpmissionsThere are plenty of others. I think the potential for great team play combined with top notch graphics and sound exist some where in this combination. I'll continue to explore it and keep you posted. Also, note that if you are thinking of purchasing Arma2 (its a great value right now) look for the "Combined Operations" version.

I played around with the mission editor in Arma: Armed Assault. I didn't manage to create anything good, just a sniper assassination mission where an enemy drives a car from point A to point B. If you managed to kill the enemy, you had to drive to point C to win.
Then I realised something completely different that could be done by applying the method of making a patrol to make a working bus that moves around the town. Somehow it didn't work even as well as my previous mission: the bus was driving off-road, the people did or did not enter/exit the bus... But it shows how many different things you can do with the mission editor, even in Arma 1. I guess a simple escort mission with a caravan of military vehicles wouldn't be that hard to do if you know what you're doing.

We have something here that should not be disregarded. Run a server on one of our own personal computers. Learn and fight together without upseting others or others messing up our gameplay. Tremendous potential here. Thanks to MCGuirk and Spartan for leading the sharge on this one.
