Based on the success of our recent 3rdSat Arma2 event, I'm sensing a growing interest in playing (and learning) more about Arma2. I know of two members who have purchased the game in the last week or so. I think it offers a good alternative gameplay environment to BF3 for some members who are looking for more teamwork and communication. It does come with a steep learning curve, however. How do members feel about Arma2 as opposed to say PR?

ArmA2 for me McGuirk. I would like to play it a bit more in prep for ArmA3 due later this year Also on a personal level, the very mention of PR brings back memories of crashes and blue screens. My BF2 was never the same, even after re-installs etc. I know some have had no trouble at all, I was just unlucky

I wasn't able to make the ArmA2 gathering, but I am interested in learning/playing.

I'm interested in ArmA 2, Project Reality, and the PR mod to ArmA 2. I have not played the later, yet.
If you are considering the purchase of ArmA 2, be aware there is the Arrowhead Expasion and the Combined Operations version is ArmA2 & Arrowhead. My understanding is the PR mod will require the Arrowhead expansion.

I have all three but all I have tried was the basic training then went online with the PR side. The people I was on with were nice enough to help out and I was able to actually help them advance to win the round. So far ArmA has been fun but I really would like a more in depth experience especially with slinging vehicles and running support. Being a ground pounder is easy but support takes more timing and skill and I enjoy the challenge. Help me help you Spartans cause ArmA is sik and I wanna get knee deep in this shiz nizzle.

Is Steam involved with ARMA?I've heard bad things about Steam. I myself would have more interest in ARMA than BF3. I enjoyed OFP DR and RR much more than BF3 or MW3.

Is Steam involved with ARMA?I've heard bad things about Steam. It is with my game, but you can install with a disc without Steam. I already have Steam and there was an offer on ArmA so I downloaded it. I like Steam and have had no problems with it. It automatically downloads and installs patches and updates (at high speed) so takes away all the hastle.
