Hey McGuirk, I noticed some laggy servers too. Especially the 64 player ones. It doesn't help that players with high ping are on them. I couldn't stop feeling so small against the massive maps. I kept getting caught gawking at the scenery. All the ambient battle noise was keeping me on the edge of my seat, trying to locate the enemy during the fray...I found it great fun forging my own path across and thru all the awe inspiring terrain. This game SERIOUSLY ROCKS! Might I be the first one to suggest we join with the Jersey Boys in a 32 slot server? Your thoughts? O'er & Out-- McBrag

So I final got BF3 installed and played for a very short time on multiplayer; same issues as others, not enough servers yet. I was "downloading" via my discs on Origin but, like I said, it would crap out. Finally just took the disc out and let Origin do it from the net. Took about an hour but it worked. Played the campaign to start practicing and getting the right keyboard shortcuts assigned.
Current Cons: - servers suck - Sidewinder x8 only binding with the three main buttons. I like to bind my two thumb keys to prone and grenade but haven't gotten them to work yet. I'll work on creating specific key board assignments to those buttons for BF3 - No joy on the joystick. Can't get my Logitech Wingman Extereme to do anything. Think this is an easy one as I just need the 64-bit drivers, and I'm not even sure I reinstalled it after doing a rebuild. By the time I tried to fly it was 0200 and I had to be at work at 0500, thought best to get some sleep. - Graphics card. My GTX 275 already ran hot but now it runs hotter, danger close hot, so I had to lower myself down to medium. No big deal but I'm doing the new graphics card debate between the 570 or the 5950.
Pros: - Holy awsome enviroments Batman! Graphics are oustanding - Holy huge maps on top of that - They have brought back SOME of the BF2 things we liked although I think the commo rose is a little weak - did I mention the graphics, best I've ever seen
I will tell you that my system is just on the cusp of being out of date for this game. I seriusly began looking at upgrading my mobo as I have maxed it out with the my Q6600 quad core OC at 2.8 MHz and while I'm sure a 5950 Video card will do wonders it will bottleneck. Already looking at the Gigabyte Intel X58/Intel mobo, a new Cool Master Elite 430 mid-size case to go along with the Vid Card. Fortunately I've upgraded about everything else in my current system and stuck them in an old Dell XPS 410 box which I've hacked up to install more cooling. Only thing original about it is the mobo and processor, so can I convince Household 6 to do a MIPR of cash for me. May just try and sneak the purchases in over the next month of TDYs!

that new GPU will help and when you play use a overclocking system like EVGA Precision if you have an EVGA card, or MSI Afterburner or even AMD's control center if need be, and crank that fan speed up to 100%!!!
As for Commo-Rose its already been confirmed that it was released UNFINISHED they are working on it and its a high priority, we will get commo rose back and this WILL replace BF2 forever.

McBrag spoke to JerseyJA today, our main jersey boy and he is trying to get the killercreation Jerseyboys server swapped from bfbc2 to bf3 but is awaiting a responce. Am certain all those who wish to play from the clan can and will have reserved slots

Been playing the campaign on PS3. Have had some loading issues between missions and a glitches(bodies suspended in air). I've been to the city in the first mission. It looked very similar to me.(been 6 years) Do not like the lack of NODs in missions.Everyone knows Recon gets the good stuff . Will post more as I play.

Ghost, how hot is your 275 running, I had an Asus 275 that I would over clock from 633mhz to 730mhz for gaming. Temps I think we're 60 ish if I remember rightly. Unfortunately my dual core is not helping me.

Are you using a heat pipe cooler on the gpu? If not, I'd highly recommend one for whichever card you end up with. I've overclocked every card I've owned, and short of the heat pipe cooler, nothing worked very well. I've air and water cooled to the point of having over 200cfm pushing thru the tower. I had raided SCSI drives, a Pentium D and RAM voltage regulator crammed into a huge antec tower... Sounded like a B29 at full throttle...LOL Heat pipes are defiantly the way to go..

BTTF/Viper, I got mine from Play.com. Makes no difference as the game is locked until 28th A warning about installation. Mine froze at about 65%, so I thought Ah! put in disc 2 but no. I was told to insert disc 1, so I removed disc 1 during installation I won't know if the install is fcuked until Fri McBrag, I'm sure we are all welcome on the 'Jersey Boys' server. For a while we have shared each others TS3 servers. If no-one is on theirs they will check ours and join in, and vice versa. A cool arrrangement Viper and myself have also contributed funds (minimal on my part) towards their BC2 and TS3 servers to create a bit of unity ;D Of coarse, a solution to this would be to have our own BF3 server ;D Perhaps when the dust has settled and if enough Spartans are commited to BF3, it might be an important topic to discuss on Scriv's return

OMG OMG OMG OMG, I finally got to play, BF3 is freaking amazing, I am only going to a select few maps, like Operation Firestorm, Caspian Border, and Kharg Island because they are some of the biggest maps, and BTW Firestorm is HUGE, I mean HOLY SHIT, sure the flags are a little close in the center but if you think like me you can go WAY THE FUCK OUT THERE in your vehicles and get the drop on some unsuspecting fools. Also found out what the CITV UNlock does in the tanks, a 3rd person gets in and not only spots targets in IR vision but LASER DESIGNATES them as well AND it even comes with a PROXIMITY SENSOR!

I will hopefully finally get to battle with you . I do enjoy our quality time spent in AFVs, and the destruction is mind blowing. I can't remember going on about a game as much as this one. Ok, less talk, more play!

I find the campaign a Hybrid of COD/Bad Co with some Medal of Honor. OFP Red River and DR were better IMHO. EA dropped the ball IMO,hopefully MP is where BF3 will shine. The Graphics and sound were top notch and Paris getting Nuked was priceless.

DICE has never really been known for SINGLEPLAYER, with the exception of the Bad Company Series which its only thing was its comedic take on war. Think back to 1942/BF2/2142 the "singleplayer" was fighting against bots on the MP maps, while this is not so bad, it does make you want to just play MP if you have an internet connection. This game at least gives you something else to do and the Co-Op missions while short are fun and offer rewards, this game gets a 9.8/10 from me, it may go up to a 10/10 depending upon the patching and DLC that comes with it at later stages.

Tried to do some multiplayer last night but the lag was KILLER! There were about 30 of us on the map and we all were experienceing the same problem. We're talking running about a block then all of sudden your about 2 steps forward from where you began. I thought the entire reason we did the ALPHA and BETA testing was to get this straight. Anyone else get the feeling EA pushed this game out before it was ready just to beat out MW3? I'm thinking its another month before its fully ready to have some real fun.
My GTX 275 runs about 50 - 60 degrees when I'm just doing the normal day to day activitites but when I put in BC2 or BF3 its heads up to almost 80-85. I've been using EVGA Precision to crank the fan up as it heats up but there are two known issues. One, the GTX275 runs a bit hotter. Two, I built my current system around the Dell XPS 410 Box I bought for my wife in 2005. I bought her the iMAC in 2007 and began building my own custom tower with it, power supply, video card, RAM, processor. While I hate the Dell mobo it wasn't hurting anything. I broke out the Dremel and made some significant modifications to the case to add some 120mm fans but you can only do so much. Frankly, the case jut does not have good air flow.
I knew this day would come, it happens about every three years, just trying to be practical about it so Household 6 doesn't go off the deep end when I dump a huge wad of cash like I've done in the past.
I've got the parts list built and I'm going to slowly start ordering things over the next few months so by Christmas I can put it all together an exclaim "where did that come from?"

Get a new case, and yes the GTX275 still uses the G92 modified chip-set which is known to run VERY HOT, their maximum thermal design allows you to get them up to 105C, yes 105C is what your GPU is rated for MAXIMUM. As for the LAG, some of it will go away when the rest of the world gets their release dates so that they don't try to play using American VPN's to play from Russia/East Europe/Asia/Australia. Also patches will smooth out the rest, it took DICE years to get BF2 right, it will not take as long to patch BF3 due to the new hot patch system.
