Preordered discs require standing in lines with the kiddies at awful hours. Why not sit at home and preload? Also what if you get a bad disc... Tisk Tisk bad disk...

Makes you wonder, if you can preload now it must be ready.
Why wait till the 28th (or whenever) to activate ?
I have to wait for the disc from Play anyway. Christ ! I'm off work all next week and will have to wait !

Quote from the EA/BF3 Forum: 'NVIDIA owners and Battlefield fans will want to keep an eye out Monday for a new set of drivers which will fix bugs and improve performance in Battlefield 3 when it launches the following day.' Does this mean BF3 is released Tues 25th ? Official date would be appreciated.

I bought the digital version from Origin, only paid 59.99 with NO TAX! You have to use Origin anyway so there was really no downside, and if EA goes under we will not be playing BF3 anyway because that would make their servers go down, its a safe bet, or at least so from my perspective.

Same here Spartan. I agree it's a safe bet. Drivers 285.38 seemed to work well with my system. I'm running a laptop : WIN 7 I7 Quad Core @2.93ghz nVidia GTX 460m 8 gigs DDR3 500 gig 7200rpm HD I would like o address a few performance issues that most of are sure to run into. Short of having an SLI video setup, most of us will be looking for ways to average at least 30 fps in-game. Updating chipset (mobo) drivers, and all component drivers is job one. What OS are you running? WINXP installs over a year old should be freshly reinstalled. If your install is on a non partitioned hard drive, consider partitioning so you can install applications to a partition other than the one the OS is residing ( C: ). If you happen to be running Vista, my heart goes out to you. WIN 7 seems ultra stable and fast. Program compatibility works great. I've yet to find software that I cant get to install or run. But you need to make sure you shut off as many background apps as you can. Defragmenting your hard drive should be done before every marathon gaming session. DEfrag after every update, no matter what it's for. For someone with an UBER system these steps are not going to make much difference. For those of us that DON'T, a fresh OS install with the newest updated BIOS, chipset and component drivers WILL make enough difference to put us in the game. Also make sure you've cleaned the towercase out. BF3 and Bad Company are both tough on systems. BFBC regularly overheated both my xbox and PS3. You'll find the game getting laggy and stuttering, most likely due to system throttling down to protect itself from meltdown. Other ideas include running TS on a separate machine. WE probably might want to consider whether it would benefit performance by shutting down XFire etc. I find our TS server to be a better meeting place... Any thoughts?

I use Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit and I use a Solid State Drive (SSD) so I NEVER DEFRAG, its useless on an SSD as they have their own built in Background Garbage Collection. Xfire should only be shutdown if your computer is really old and if you are running Windows XP you WILL NOT be playing Battlefield 3 as it only supports DX 10.1 and DX 11, there is no DX 9 support.
