Most gamers know of IGN as they are just as prominent as Game Informer and many other review sites. IGN recently got to test out the latest build of Battlefield 3 which is only 2 weeks old and the impressions they got were entirely different from what we are playing now. Damages seems to be Battlefield 2 style, hit detection was spot on, graphics were beautiful and they even said it ran MUCH smoother than the BETA. Here is the entire story and it even covers one of the largest maps in BF3 called Operation Firestorm on 64 Player CONQUEST!

...Wasn't Op Firestorm the one where there was just a cluster of flags in the middle of the map? Well, at least we got prone, jets and 64 players...
I'm looking forward for people posting here and elsewhere about their thoughts on the PC version when it comes out. After that I'll decide will I upgrade my computer or not. Right now that map looks almost unplayable. Sure, you can go around the map a bit, but all the players will be clustered in one 100m x 100m area.
I don't get why didn't hey make half the maps "cool small CoD-style" maps and the other half real big 64 player conquest maps? Now we have big maps, and inside them are CoD-style maps (Op Firestorm), and then we have these small maps too. Or why don't they just spread out the flags? Like in the 64 player versions in BF2?

I believe it is EA's goal to unseat CoD from the throne.
And BF3 will suffer to accomplish this.

I am looking forward to playing BF3 on PS3 and I have preordered MW3.
I need something to pass the time this winter.

I knew already that the singleplayer was going to be the usual shoot some bad guys-quicktime event-shoot more bad guys-something epic thing, the co-op good and the multiplayer good.
But the thing that struck me was that the both reviewers mentioned the commo rose, which was returning after being missing for the BC spin-off series. But oh, my predictions came true, they made it worse. They have removed some of the useful messages, which I find ridiculous. There's no "bail out!"? Ok, have fun with the choppers crashing all the time (oh yeah, once again you can't practice flying anywhere else than the online multiplayer) and the pilot is unable to shout "bail out!". And you won't be flashing on the map after shouting for ammo fro example (if you even can ask for ammo through the commo rose anymore).
There were 11 buttons in the old commo rose. I'm not 100% sure if consoles are getting it as well, but that would explain the missing buttons: You can't choose the correct message as easily with a controller I suppose. So, I'm guessing it's just one message on the left, on the right, up and down, and spot in the middle. Way to go DICE. One simple thing and you decided to mess with it. I think I predicted this here not so long ago?

Graphics and sound got 9.5. Battlefield 3 is THE game that makes you upgrade your entire system to show the graphics. It's this generation's Crysis. And if the sounds are any good as the ones in BC2, they deserve a 10 too. Knowing that Activison (probably) bribes IGN, MW3 will get 10 in graphics thanks to the years-old engine. Mark my words: MW3 will get more than 9.0 from IGN. They will be praising everything, but there will be a sentence or two complaining perhaps about getting tired of the modern era.

One thing is weird: how can they review the multiplayer if the game isn't out yet? With fellow game journalists? And there's the day 1 patch coming, hopefully patching at least the squad system and the commo rose (which IGN didn't even mention, I guess they thought it was fine or they didn't even notice it)

I have to agree with you pershainovitsh that IGN does seem to rate every call of duty above a 9.0 including the horrid game they call BLACK OPS. Black Ops should have truly lived up to its name and stayed hidden from history as it was terrible and unplayable at release on PC. Battlefield 3 has already won over 60 awards including #1 at E3, Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show (this is really hard for a non-Japanese game to get), and Eurogamer also gave BF3 #1. The only award left for Battlefield 3 to get and its the Gaming years end award is the Spike Video Game Awards which is like the Grammy's of Video Games. As for Commo-Rose no one has seen it implemented yet and its a VERY CLOSELY GUARDED SECRET until Launch which is now only 24 hours away.

24 hours away? Oh, you live in the States... Well, please take a picture of the new commo rose the first thing you do and upload it here. That would stop this speculating. Anyway, there's this day 1 patch coming, so maybe it will improve the commo rose GameSpy didn't like? But I'm not sure if it's day one as in tomorrow, or day one as in Thursday, when us Europeans get the game too.

I don't understand how can DICE manage to break the near-perfect communication system? Was it too complex for today's gamer so it had to be dumbed down? Why did they take "bail out" away? What else have they taken away? Is it the awful Battlefield Play4Free commo rose where you have to place the cursor on the message you want to say instead of pointing in the direction like it should be done?
I hope they get it right eventually. Was it confirmed for consoles as well?

Commo-Rose for consoles is a mystery, some say its in others say its not, and official channels have refused to comment on it.
