IMPORTANT NOTE: REMEMBER THIS IS A BETA, AND MOST ARE ALSO USING AMD/NVIDIA BETA DRIVERS, WEIRD STUFF IS GOING TO HAPPEN, THIS WILL BE FIXED!
Now on to my perspective of the BETA, its buggier than the Alpha which is a little worrisome however as stated above, lets continue...the action is brutal even more brutal than in BC2 and that says A LOT. I did manage to find out the locked server passwords before they changed the password, it used to be Rumncoke but now I don't know what it is. The vehicles in Caspian Border HAVE PHYSICS, its almost like Need For Speed, so expect rich results from vehicles, they are also seeming somewhat fragile, 3 RPG's killed my Abrams and I died FAST, remember again this is NOT final and expect differences in Release and subsequent patches down the road, as for vehicle regen, well lets just say NONE of the vehicles I saw in my 3 hours of messing around on Caspian Border were able to retreat to regen their armor, its BRUTAL. The Map is DEFINITELY bigger than Heavy Metal in BC2 by a factor of 2x, its 2x longer and 2x wider at least, and NO Caspian Border is NOT the largest map, its actually considered a STANDARD sized 64 player map, so get ready to use vehicles or play this game on a treadmill, because by the time you get into the fight by running in from base, you could have done a good workout (obvious exaggeration).
There are CRITICAL bugs in both maps however Heavy Metal seemed better until I started getting random shooting black rays everywhere, however DICE has withheld any information on what version the BETA is running on, the rumors are that its just after ALPHA with new Battlelog Net Code, this could easily explain A LOT.
For once I can say this really does feel like a BETA/ALPHA and seems like they are gonna get some interesting feedback about their game from this, I really am looking forward to the new Graphics Drivers that NVIDIA is going to be officially releasing just prior to BF3 Launch using all available info from the BETA and we NVIDIA consumers can expect a sizable performance increase from the new drivers, DICE is really pulling in as much as they can about making sure people can run this game smoothly and quality settings.

Posted on behalf of McBrag...
Hey Steve, tried joining a beta server last nite to no avail. I see only 100 servers available for the whole world. At 32 slots a server, that's 3200 folks playing. Pretty lame beta if you ask me. I hope its better by the time I get home from new mexico. Play a couple rounds for me.....--later, Fred

Downloading now, cant wait to give it a go. The Alpa was good but my laptop really struggled and was only getting 10-15 fps so was not really playable. Have now just completed my first system build mainly due to this (fingers crossed it wont fall apart) and hopefully my i5 and GTX 580 will give me good performance.

After a few brief forays on the beta, I have found nothing so far to complain about !!! (I know) It looks beautiful, and sounds amazing for starters. If anyone is worried about their PC's running this, I am getting 80 fps inside the subway and 60 fps outside (phew)! This is with a GTX560Ti alongside the i5 2500K Being a Beta I seem to be thrown into a squad (BC2 style-4 man) so at the moment I'm not sure how the Squad system will work. After trying out all the kits, the weapons seem good. Weapon selection is like BF2 ie. cycle through them all with the mouse wheel (inc. knife and grenade) The return of 'prone' is great as it suits my gameplay, ambush etc. (camp) So far it seems BF3 is going to sit in between BF2 and BC2. For me, this is more than I expected. I genuinly thought this was going to be BC3, but it does look to be more.

No Caspian Border so far. I have heard talk of the map being added to the Beta at some stage. I hope so.

As I said I played Caspian Border and its massive, funny thing its not even the biggest map in the game and DICE is keeping that map a closely guarded secret, Rumors are that the Back To Karkand EP Wake Island 2011 will be 4x the Size of Heavy Metal in BFBC2. Operation Metro in Conquest 64 for PC has some maps out, I will try to link them below and remember RUSH is not a BF2 game mode it is a BFBC game mode, however ALL yes ALL maps that will be released by DICE will have support for ALL GAMEMODES INCLUDING 64 Player CONQUEST! Another good thing that I recently tested was all the different "specializations", these do grant a bonus but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GAME BREAKING, the Suppression effect gets 25% worse with the Suppression Marksman training, Ammo gives you the maximum amount of ammo, grenades is the same but with hand grenades and GL nades, Sprint makes you run 25% faster, Flack lets you take concussion and frag shrapnel better however a direct hit is an insta-kill still, Explosive gives you more C-4 and rockets and mortars, & Cover lets you take less of a suppressive effect when getting shot at. As you can see none of these break the game and give an unfair advantage, coordinating with teammates about what specials you have will let you get the most our of your squad, its all about teamwork, and that's one thing that in this game if your team has YOU WILL WIN. NONE OF THE SPECIALS STACK SO IF ONE PERSON HAS SQUAD SPRINT AND YOU HAVE IT YOU DO NOT GET ANOTHER 25% BOOST. So for despite the bugs which DICE has managed to fix most in 2 days so far, which for their track record of patching is IMPECCABLE, the BETA is almost becoming a DEMO in its time, DICE has clearly shown that they are listening to the community and are willing to make appropriate changes. Even mod tools down the road have been discussed, and they are planning to make a PROFESSIONAL set of them after all DLC is released for BF3. Commander mode will NOT be in BF3 and if you have played BF3 in Conquest like I have you will understand why the commander is NOT needed. Possible Map of Operation Metro 64 Player Conquest img16.imageshack.us/img16/7159/6302011121214pm.jpg [/img] The highlighted areas are for 32 player RUSH which is available in the BETA, the areas out side of that are the FULL SIZED 64 Player MAP ZONE, even the small little Metro Map in 64 Conquest is BIG, this map is still bigger in Conquest than Heavy Metal!
