Do the expansions have a seperate key or do I keep using the key that comes with my original game? If I buy the expansions used, I don't have to worry about other keys right?

Yes, they have separate CD keys. The Complete Collection has the base game and 3 expansions, but only 3 CD keys. Euro Force & Armored Fury have one CD key. The first CD/DVD of the base BF2 or the SF expansion is needed in your disc drive to run the game. Registration of your game with Electronic Arts (EA) is optional until you load and want to use the Armored Fury booster. You can not use the Armored Fury maps until you register. Before you load the Complete Collection, recommend you read pages 1 & 2 of the pamphlet that comes with the game and this post: spartanwf.proboards52.com/index.cgi?board=tweak&action=display&thread=149Caution with Vista if you want the game to function: Right click the BF2 desk top icon, select "properties", ensure you select "Run as admin" and compatibility mode "Windows XP"

So it stands to reason that a used copy won't do me any good and I'll need to buy a brand new one right?

A used copy should probably be okay as long as the CD key has not been distributed over the internet. I hqve used the same discs to load on several of my personal computers.
