I miss the old days on BF2, sniping from cover while you guys were moving in to the objective on foot. Also, dropping bombs on tanks that were causing issues for our mission.  |

There are still people playing it, and it has some of the best mods ever made: Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality. What's stopping us from playing them? I can't get vanilla BF2 to work on Windows 7, but the mods are working without a problem. Those mods are still in development, with PR 1.0 looming in the horizon, and FH2 having an Eastern front update coming in the future.

What's stopping me from playing now is that there are many other games that I play, and those games have better graphics. And I'm one of those graphics guys that likes eye candy. It makes me love new games all that much more, but makes it so I can't really get into old games anymore. Oh well.

In a consumer society this is the best possible behaviour (from the companies' point of view), but you're missing out many great games because of this. BF2, FH2, PR, Ghost Recon, Hockey?, Sub Rosa... Good graphics don't make a good game, good gameplay does. To each to their own, I guess. |
