There is the option of running a BF2 server with a multi-core computer. That is a computer with more than one CPU. For example, dual-core or quad core. The most efficient way to do this is to download a separate "dedicated server file" for BF2. (You could even put the server files on a separate hard drive) www.fileshack.com/file.x/7220/Battlefield+2+-+Dedicated+Windows+Server+Build+1.411) Start the dedicated server. 2) Set the affinity for the server application to temporarily use a specific CPU core. - Press "Ctrl-Alt-Del" and select the "Task Manager" - Click the tab labeled "Processess" - Locate "BF2ServerLancher.exe *32" and right click it - Click "Set affinity", uncheck a CPU core, click "OK", and close the task manager. 3) Start the BF2 game - "Tab-Alt" out of the game - Locate "BF2.exe *32" and right click it - Click "Set affinity", uncheck the other CPU core, click "OK", and close the task manager. Now you are hosting a server and fighting.

I have a dual core, and am more than happy to run a server on it. I hope to upgrade to a Quad core in the next few weeks.

Hey, yea! I understand what your talking about. I have been tinkering around with setting CPU affinity not long ago and I am willing to test this out. Although, my computer isn't the fastest. It would seem that would not matter with a dual-core, since I have run BF2 on just 1 of them before.
