Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is used to publish frequently updated content in a standardized format. We want our RSS feed to contain a summary of content from our website and forum which will make it possible for people to stay current reference updates to our site in an automated manner.

You know, I think that the forum really isnt as bad as I thought it was before. I find now that we have so many discussions popping up, it is quite necesary to have the complexity that you have put together.

What if we made it necessary to participate in the forum to graduation from recruit to member? That would assure that all our new members are accustomed to using it

Recruits are "selected for membership status based on your participation, conduct, skill, and ability to fit in with the team." The RSS feed would assist in providing information to our War Fighters and reduce the number of emails being sent out.

Good to hear. At times it feels like too many emails are getting sent out. We do not want to turn BF2 fighters away from the clan because of too many emails.

I am not using and encourage others NOT to use the Private Message (PM) feature offered in the =SWF= Forum. It would be too much to manage.

Ok, I can understand why. I am not a big fan of them either, but I figured that maybe with one of your administrator abilitys you could send stuff to people more efficiently than with email.

My only thought on this subject is, TOO MANY EMAILS! I understand I will get extra as I am co-ordinating events but I feel in general there are a few too many. Angry

Only issue with RSS is not everyone knows how to read it/has a RSS reader. While it is quite common and not that hard, not sure if it will be an annoyance to some to almost be required to have it.

It depends how you want to use the RSS feed. The majority of the time, the purpose of an RSS feed is so that people can get updates on a site without visiting the site and can consolidate feeds from their favourite sites in one place to get all the updates. If someone is running XP, there is nothing out of the box that can read the feed, they would have to download a feed reading program. If someone is running Vista, there is a feed reader gadget already displayed by default and they would just need to feed it into there. If someone is using Microsoft Outlook there is a feed reader in there as well. I am not as familar with the Mac/Linux environment to let you know about that. Not sure if your thought was just to have an RSS feed and display it on the website?
