Taz, McGuirk, and I tried out this map yesterday. Many near death experiences. The server had a lot of folks on with a number of vehicles. Taz I are linked up and will be moving North to link-up with McGuirk.
You are welcome to join in.
The DayZ main effort is still the PCGN Private server. Just good to get a change in every once and awhile.

Lambourne and I played on this map today. I had five enemy encounters. Broke contact with a guy shooting at me at a helicopter crash. The other three different encounters result in the other guy bitting the dust.
We accumulated a couple tents, found three functional vehicles, and have five NVGs.

There are a lot of folks on the Shiva run Panthera map server we have been on lately. Around 30 players each day. There a number of different features: - Aircraft: helios with mini-guns, biplane, C130, and an Osprey (Fixed wing with rotary wing capability) - Loot: Many more military loot sites - Ground Vehicles: Many more - Crash sites/Wrecks: standard smokin' helio, burned-out C130, and burned-out/rusted trucks & APCs - Most of the buildings can be entered - Standard initial spawn-in equipment includes NVGs and a 1911 with two mags - Very easy to loose Zombies due to rough terrain and vegetation Osprey with vertical lift capability on the far right portion of the image

Does the Day Z version of Panthera have the Osprey? The other helicopter looked pretty cool too.

When Scriv was telling me about the map, he mentioned a fixed-wing aircraft that was capable of vertical flight. I assume he was referring to the Osprey, and if that's the case, then the answer to your question, Al, is yes.
I spent about 15 minutes on Panthera this morning, and it seemed pretty cool. I just need to wait until the girlfriend isn't streaming video over the network, because I got kicked due to high ping.

Initially, I was against muckin' up the DayZ experience with too many mod additions. Well as a player gains experience and skill within the DayZ world, one begins to see the positive side of adding some toys to the Chenarus map. PCGN server participants need to continue to feel excitement and be challenged. I recommend the following additions:
- Osprey - Little Bird - Fuel Truck - Maintenance Truck
We have been testing out the Panthera map and the map we have been playing on has these vehicles. I recommend the Osprey V-22 and two Little Bird MH-6 be added to the PCGN server and stationed at the Northwest Airfield for all to use on a first-come first serve basis. The only catch is these three aircraft have to be returned to the Northwest Airfield. The two Fuel Trucks and two Maintenance Trucks would only be driven by the merchants. One of each would be parked at the North Merchant Site and one each at the South Merchant Site. They would not be stolen and could be used as part of the merchant buisness plan. Gain repairs or fuel and pay a reasonable price for the goods and services. It could be a known location for folks to visit or a call to the merchant and he is on his way to fuel your vehicle and make repairs.

Are all zombie apocalypse survivors soldiers with helicopter piloting training? Seems a bit weird that anyone can fly them.
Having those trucks would be cool. What is the idea of returning the helis to the airfield? How would it be monitored? What if the pilot lands somewhere and gets eaten by zombies? Should his dying wish to the zeds be "Please... fly the Osprey back to the NW airfield" ? Or if the pilot can't remember that the helicopter should be returned or doesn't find the airfield anymore? What would be the punshment for not following this rather artificial rule? Surely you can't just ban a person for keeping the helo for himself in a game like this. If there is a punishment, it should be strickly in-game.

Passed out face down in the water Found a Little Bird on top of a Castle This is when Taz went from veritcal flight in the Osprey to horizontal flight for the first time (well, at least the first time I got to see the transition in ArmA) ... I did get to watch a real Osprey do this while in Afghanistan. Amazing!!
