While waiting for GTR3 I have been playing F1 2012 which is amazing. But I thought I would try out Test Drive Unlimited 2 (on the recommendation of TPP Coolwater) Jeez, it is so addictive . I've played nothing else since installation. Unlike other racers there are no tracks, just the whole maps of Ibiza & Oahu to explore & challenge other players. Great fun. Taz, have you come across 'Project CARS' yet? This looks awesome. Check out the screenshots, I've not seen anything like it !!! www.simracingworld.com/games/320-project-cars/

I like the PS3 Hot Pursuit game in Single Player mode. Does anyone know if there is a Co-Op or multiplayer mode for the game?

I believe there is a multiplayer component for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. In it one player is a cop and the other is a fugitive of some sort. I don't think there is split-screen, but I'm not sure.
One thing I don't understand is why are some sequels using the name of their predecessor? It can be very confusing. While there hasn't been a NFS: Hot Pursuit before, the third installation, NFS 3: Hot Pursuit is pretty darn close to the latest one. Especially when there is a NFS: Hot Pursuit 2, released in 2002. Why isn't the one Scriv is playing called Hot Pursuit 3?
The newest title in the Need for Speed franchise is Most Wanted. But wait a second, a game with the same name was released in 2005! Some have suggested it's because the developer is completely different, but that's not a good reason for such a stupid naming decision. Why not simply call it Most Wanted 2? The newer one was developed by Criterion Games, who are most well known for their Burnout games. Some have even called the game Burnout Paradise 2, as it seems to resemble Burnout Paradise.

Project Cars looks amazing. Coming from SMS I know it will be good. Nice to see another software design studio breaking back away from EA. I will be downloading it very soon. I still like Live For Speed but this one may be taking it's place.

This weekend I've been playing Burnout Paradise, made by Criterion Games. Some say that the new Need for Speed: Most Wanted (not the one from 2005) is a spiritual successor to it.
It features a big, open city where you can drive as much and as fast as you want. There are no cops to worry about. There is absolutely no story, you are just dropped into the city with a car. You just race, get better cars as the game progresses and destroy everything on the way. The cars themselves can get damaged (and it looks very impressive), and you can damage other races in the middle of the race if you want to. They will respawn if they get wrecked, though. Interestingly you can pick your route on the races yourself. The world is always completely open.
There's a lot to do in the city beside racing. You can try to beat the developers' (or friends') best times on the city streets, you can smash through bright red billboards and fences and jump from ramps. There is a reason for this: by getting 100% of the fences smashed, you'll get a new car. The same applies to billboards and jumps.
Usually in driving games the default cars suck, but not in this one. The first ones are okay until you get better, and some of the best ones are gotten halfway throught the game.
Race types Race: get from point A to point B using any route you want before your opponents do! Marked Man: Get from point A to point B, but watch out for black cars trying to wreck you! Stunt Run: try to get to the point limit before the time runs out by performing stunts. If you are in the middle of a combo when the time runs out, you can keep going until you either crash or the combo meter runs out. Road Rage: try to wreck a certain amount of opponents before the time runs out. Burning route: Each car has their own "burning route" race, and they are just timed races from point A to point B. The reward is a better version of the car.
It's a really fun game to play, and going at insane speeds is awesome.

I'm downloading this as soon as I get home. I'm leaving here around 0500 MTN (-7HRS GMT) tomorrow. I have 1200 miles to travel which should put me at my house between 2000 and 2300 PST (-8HRS GMT) depending on traffic and road conditions. I will let you know how it is as soon as I get some time under my belt.

Cool Taz, I'm looking into it too. I've never seen so much attention to detail. Awesome. Release is not until late 2013 Edit: Dammit, I think we missed the boat Taz. I can't register

Project CARS looks really, really cool. I got interested in seeing if the first Driver would still work. I remember playing it as a kid and it was a lot of fun. Now, can you imagine how easy it is to find about other people's experience with the game with, say, Windows 7? It's impossible as far as I know. Google "Driver Windows 7" or any variation and it's all talk about drivers for graphics cards and stuff like that. I made a tactical retreat (Finns don't give up ) and forgot about it. I don't really mind. I'm just getting angry at game, movie, brand, tv show, band and album names that are just a single word taken straight from the dictionary. Driver, Burnout, Apple, Windows, Star Trek (it's not from a dictionary but there's a movie and an upcoming game with the same name), Lost, Target, Revenge, Prison Break (all four are tv shows)... What were they thinking when they came up with name like that?

I'm pretty sure it would be illegal to download that game for free from that website. I don't do that. I do have the game on its original CD-rom, in a huge box (those days pc games were sold in huge boxes) but I was just wondering if it would run on a modern computer, and ran into trouble trying to even find information on google because of its name.
Of course I could just try to see what happens if I put the cd in the drive, but if I run into problems, I would have a hard time solving them since it's so difficult to find information concerning it. My last post was more about bad product names than anything else anyway.

Give it a shot. Worst that could happen is uninstalling the program after it didn't work. I think it will though.
