A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

... well regulated militia... - State Govenor controlled National Guard is one form - citizens of a nation that can be called upon to enter a combat situation, as opposed to a professional force of regular soldiers - Minutemen were members of well-prepared militia companies from the American colonial partisan militia during the American Revolutionary War. They provided a highly mobile, rapidly deployed force that allowed the colonies to respond immediately to war threats. Generally younger and more mobile, they served as part of a network for early response.
