Guys I have reinstalled ArmA2 CF and DayZ commander and updated installed to the latest versions I believe.
Hopefully next weekend I'll get a chance to get on, but i will need a lot of assistance with the controls and setup.
Thanks

Great to hear. It will take awhile for you to get used to and adjust the User/Interface (U/I).
BTTF needs high action, so make sure you guys get him into the action. There is a lot of acton on the Taviana map.
As Lambourne hinted at, be sure to download and install Taviana. I recommend DayZ Commander for server browsing, updates, and map installs.

Didn't have time for gaming this weekend, although did get to play a bit of Lego Star Wars with my son on the wii I also had time to download the Dayztaviana.com on DayZ Commander, which I hope is the right one of the two listed ?

I believe that's the correct one. Someone said don't download the UK version, use the .com version, if I remember correctly.

I had some issues getting DayZ to play. Having relied on DayZ Commander to update all the files including ArmA I overlooked the fact that it didn't include Operation Arrrowhead. On updating OA everything seems to be fine.
I had about 10min playtest on the Pcgn server with 'Neoshadow' who also claimed to be new to DayZ.

I didn't actually see the guy, this was just by the text chat. Also that would be a bit unsporting I'm not that familiar with the controls yet and I don't appear to be armed (?). I need to get on with you guys and get 'tooled up'

"that would be a bit unsporting"
Neoshadow was going to eat you for lunch. Toughen-up. It's a dog-eat-dog DayZ world out there. You are suppose to survive. Get in the mind set of shooting Neoshadow and plan on owning his loot items.

Andy scriv is right, dayz is not a forgiving game you spend hours trying to get loot and unless you shoot first you will get shot

Once I showed Day Z to my friend, I rode a bicycle and ran away from zombies. At one point I nearly bumped into a fully-equipped human in a city. He didn't even try to kill me. It's not always so black and white.
