I bought premium, I like the extra stuff (the gold name and dog tags are crap and were not considered in my deliberation of purchase). I like guns, if they are real or digital I like guns, I also intended to purchase so far all DLC for BF3 to expand my gameplay. I am trying to do what I can to get DICE to unf**k the VOIP situation in a patch. VOIP would change the dynamic of BF3 entirely and make it much more enjoyable. Is BF3 BF2, no, and no one unless its a mod will ever make a game like BF2 again, there were lots of things I liked about BF2 and lots of things I could not stand, BF3 has brought me some things I enjoyed in BF2 and gotten rid of some things I did not like also while not delivering in game VOIP which right now is about the only thing that truly pisses me off.
I really found it hard to swallow the fact I had to pay an additional 49.99 (no tax here in Florida for digital purchases) to get all this crap however I conversed with others about it and I bought it, so far its meh but I have not even really gotten any of the features yet and I get new crap every month so for that I am happy, I also don't have to buy shit for BF3 ever again (hopefully).
I play ArmA II, Ghost Recon, Dead Island, and Flight Sim X, the things I like about those games are solid gameplay, teamwork (this is a little lacking of playing without friends in BF3, again VOIP is needed), and item choices. BF3 has TONS of choices and even more for premium members plus its pretty much an all expense paid pass to future content.
I have also boycotted an entire series, Call Of Duty, I enjoyed 1,2, & 4(modern warfare 1 was excellent for the time), after buying and giving IW the benefit of the doubt they failed not only me but the PC community as well. If you think BF3 is a freaking console port go play MW2 or MW3, you have no idea what a console port really is... also Dead Island is a console port but its a zombie game and they are much simpler in multiplayer than real first class shooters. I have yet to purchase nor will I purchase another COD game because of what IW did to the PC community.
This is where I defend DICE to a degree, premium was devised not by DICE but by EA, I freaking hate EA but they make games that I think are fun to play (ex. BF3, Mass Effect Series, Need for Speed, ect..). IW was solely responsible for IW net in MW2 and the cluster f**k that is COD Elite, that was not Activision or Treyarch, that was IW, and for that they get the middle finger and a big F**K YOU. DICE needs to step up and show me my money was well spent, if not I may not buy BF4 due to the business model, I still hold some bit of hope that DICE can make BF3 shine with teamwork, because right now that is what is lacking is proper coordination and teamwork.
