Perhaps this link should shine some light on what looks and sounds like its going to be the =SWF= map until the B2K pack is released, if you read about it the flags are spaces 500m APART, mind you this is the SAME 500m that we saw in BFBC2, remember Heavy Metal was just under 1000M long, well each FLAG and there are 5 flags that are set 1/2 the ENTIRE distance of Heavy Metal apart. Not to mention each team gets 6 yes 6 Main Battle Tanks at base at start, if you thought Caspian Border in the BETA felt like Battlefield, this map will take you back to the days of Highway Tampa and if DICE is smart they will re-envision Highway Tampa in BF3. battlefieldo.com/nvidialanbf3/Battlefieldo only reports on Battlefield related stuff so if you want the latest check back DAILY for new stuff.

There was a thread on the EA Uk forum about the flag placement on Op Firestorm. They even calculated the distance between flags from a screenshot. Unfortunately I can't remember the thread name. But the image was taken from in-game, showing two floating flag icons, A and C, if I remember correctly. The distance to the other one was about 300 and to the other one 200. The player, flag A and flag C were almost in a straight line, so you could count the distance between A and C: about 100 meters. Then more calculations and thinking followed, resulting in that the maximum distance between the furthest flags was a bit under 500 meters. If they haven't changed the flag placement (can be seen on the official commentary from a jet) or scale hasn't been changed, there's no way it's 500 meters from one flag to the nearest. I think the 500m was gotten from an interview with a DICE dev, who probably just threw it from the top of his head. Judging by the gameplay I've seen, it's a really huge map, but the flags are clustered in the middle. If the scale is the same as in BF2, (this is straight from the EA UK forum, don't judge me for this) you could fit the entire (non-aircraft) playable area in the Chinese HQ on Dragon Valley. I think this is going a bit too far, but I think at least one or two flags could be placed in the Chinese main spawn. They are so close to each other. I hope I'm wrong. Just look at this. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=QUZcIcrdZaY#t=574sFlag D from flag A seems to be about 235 meters, and flag B from D is about 280 meters. 250 meters from B to A. Go to full screen and select 720p. But those were seen from a birds-eye-view. If someone has watched the whole video or played at the Nvidia LAN event, please tell if it's a good distance for infantry and/or vehicles. And if someone has screenshots of BF2 flag distances, both from map perspective and from infantry perspective, that would help a lot.

my info game form the GeForce 6 LAN, and people were saying the distance between flags was an average of about 500m, remember that this is using the BFBC2 style of meter calculation and NOT BF2 as they are on 2 entirely different engines, you can even hear about it in the video on the linked page. Either way, I can understand why they placed the flags where they are to balance out the combat and make it diverse. the map looks like its going to be extremely diverse, and if you want a good idea of what Wake Island MIGHT be like play it on BF 1943 on consoles, except the 2014 version in BF3 will be 64 player (PC) and they said its supposed the be gloomy and all kinds of FUBAR not like a tropical paradise.

Hmm... I guess they have changed the distances between the flags after all. I hope so. if the distance between flags really is 500 meters, that is surely going to be one of the fan favourites right away, along with Caspian Border and maybe Kharg Island.

Pershainovitsh is correct about the analysis done by EA UK Forum participants. Although, there is a lot speculation.
