I already know Psyco's answer to this but my vote is a definite yes. Can we not see all the polar ice capes melting? why are they melting, well we have destroyed the ozone with our pollution and crap  I know Psyco it is like -15 were you are but global warming is still there, if anything some of the wacky weather is because of mankind throwing every thing out of balance! Really mankind is the biggest disease to hit earth. It would be a lot better off without us. I'm looking forward to seeing Angrys reply to this, he loves digging his heels into loads of research. LOL |

Global warming is the biggest myth in history.When I was a kid it was global cooling.Al Gore is so FOS this is justa excuse to make people miserable.There is no proof of this, global warming is the new fad for the liberal media and the hollywood types.Do you think the hollyweird types are going to give up their fancy SUVs and private jets I think not.
What burns me is they push this in school on younger people.Al Gores Inconvenient Lies is such BS.I'm freezing my bollocks off and got 2 feet of snow on the ground.I'm proud I drive my enviormentaly UNFREINDLY F-250 and cut trees down to stay warm.I'm off to stock up on incandesant light bulbs and ammo.

OK well I was not going to get to involved, however first psyco you are definatly wrong.
Global warming is not a myth and evidance can be seen all around us.
The question that is being asked is 'Do you believe the Earth's atmosphere is warming due to mankind?'
Everyone knows that Global warming is taking place, unless you live under a rock, in which case have you not noticed how damp your getting?
Lets get this debate on to the right track first.
Global cooling was a conjecture during the 1970s of imminent cooling of the Earth's surface and atmosphere along with a posited commencement of glaciation. This hypothesis never had significant scientific support, but gained temporary popular attention due to a combination of press reports that did not accurately reflect the scientific understanding of ice age cycles, and a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s. Scientific consensus is that the Earth has not durably cooled, but undergone global warming throughout the 20th century.

Pollution isn't a myth for sure, so "global warming" and believing in protecting the environment are different things. My stance on the matter is that even if the earth IS warming, I'll be long dead by the time it does enough to change my way of life, and I'm agnostic (closer to atheist) so I don't belive that I'll have to watch my kids, friends or family suffer from it either--it'll have absolutely no impact on me either way  |

I agree with psyco on this one.
People are always trying to come up with ways to scare us. Ozone is a greenhouse gas, it traps heat that would otherwise radiate into space. If the ozone layer is DECREASING, then why do people say the temperature is rising? Ozone traps heat! If there's less of it, there's less heat being trapped!

Gee by the votes I see us under the rock dwellers must be right.There is no proof.Of course being a island dweller I can see your fear of this myth.The people that push this down our throats are the biggest hypocrites of them all.Gore jets around on private jets that burn more fuel than most people burn in a year.And then you got the hollywood crowd with nothing else to do with their time.Most of them live in large homes that use lots of power.And drive Suvs you can be sure none of them would be caught dead in a prius or a civic.
I could care less even if it was real.Everyone here will be long dead before anything happens if at all.Please wikipedia??I wouldn't trust it as reliable.
My F-250 is fine,some hippie queer in a hybrid made a comment about my truck.I then passed him stuck in a snowbank and gave him a one finger salute.You buy the vehicle you want screw being green.
When its in the 80s in January and I have ocean front property where I live maybe I'll believe it. Till then keep mining and drilling and cutting.Theres plenty of room under the rock I'll save a spot for you buddy.

Global Warming is a fact, as stated in the question this thread is based on, I have not yet given my position on the actual question.

The Earth is going through a phase of cooling (as us brits can tell, It was in the 1990's when we last had a decent summer)

It is only going to get colder for Britain I'm afraid and this is because of Global Warming. When the ice caps melt which is what is happening now the water level will rise and they say it will effect the golf stream, when/if that changes we will be more like Greenland and just have ice and snow most of the time. Just because it is colder here doesn't mean global warming isn't happening
As for the question that Angry has pointed out, I believe it is because of mankind that things are like they are and i think it is only going to get worse. If we weren't here the earth would be doing just fine.

But the way the poll question is phrased, I don't think you can argue it isn't. I mean, sure, it could just be the earth going through another cycle of cooling/heating, but it is heating up. I agree it's over-sensationalized a bit though. I have to STRONGLY disagree with psycho's assesment though that you don't care if it is true cause you won't be around to see it's effects. Sorry psycho, but I can't understand how you can say that with a straight face. A statement like that sounds like you don't care about other people at all, but I know that isn't true. Maybe you were just impassioned? |

Finally someone else is on my side ;D But i think it was Milk that said that rather than Psyco. I agree though i think he just meant it isn't any thing for us to worry about at the moment rather than he doesn't care about others.
